I remember going to Wembley against Spurs and looking at burger prices outside. They were charging something like £15 for cheeseburger and chips. Burnley fans were saying sod that and Spurs fans were just handing over their money without a blink of an eyelid.

So so excited to read this. For me it’s as exciting a step forward as many of the other off pitch developments in recent months - the documentary, the Watts’ investment, etc - since it will directly benefit me.
The JM super box looks brilliant. I can see that offering being in high demand. But the best news is the self ordering and pre-ordering service. If that means the 38 minute rush stops and people get their HT refreshments in reasonable time then it’ll be transformational in terms of match day experience for me. Just need proper Wi-Fi and a PA system that works. But seriously, HT service was my biggest bug bear and if the club have sorted that - huge credit where it’s due.
Now I just hope:
- beer options are good and we do away with the terrible lagers (San Miguel can stay)
- prices are reasonable
- Haffners are on the menu
- the menu is akin to Spurs / Hull & not scrimped or made too basic as it’s such a good opportunity for a black revamp and to make it really leading edge.
- they also invest in our 1990s kiosks/Concordes in the way they have the JM super box. Nothing crazy, just a modernisation
If they do that then this’ll be another unbelievable step forward for the club by ALK.

On site catering with a 15/20 min max window serving 1000’s is the stuff of nightmares for caterers .
Comparing our cramped area and 19k crowds to 70k + purpose built high tech “super arenas”and what they offer is also a bit silly, not to mention moaning about branded lagers ( we know it’s nowt but cold fizz but brands sell)
With cheapskate fans in a hardly cosmopolitan area, doing anything even remotely different to pies/hot dogs is a tough gig. Space is a real killer too. While I’d like to see chips/pie peas etc people talking street food/ fish n chips /real ales are dreaming . BFC fans ain’t gonna pay £8-10 for a premium pie or wait while real ales are pulled .
Personally I’d have a few bottle kiosks for the basic lagers , serious pre pouring on the main bars ,maybe a few self serve lager machines .

So you pay £1450 plus vat to go into a sports bar and be able to order a burger served quicker than before, at the same time play pool etc. I don’t get it. I go to watch football. I don’t get the attraction to be honest. I’ll agree the concourse ( JHL) food has been awful for sometime and agree that needs changing but I’m not sure about a sports bar at £1800 a season in the JM stand. Everyone to their own I suppose.

£75 plus VAT per game doesn't seem expensive, especially in the Prem. Wasn't it around £170 plus VAT for the game at Ewood

Almost undoubtedly, I’d say. But it may’ve been his choice to move on - there’ll have been a package available, no doubt, so sometimes that suits people to try a new challenge. Pretty sure I recall CT saying he was offered a role in the new set up.

He was offered a transfer to Levy but turned it down. I’ve heard he’s off to work for another football club.
I don’t know how they are doing all this but a friend of mine will be managing all the concourse catering.

There is no Wi-Fi available for general supporters but most people find it impossible getting online while on the Turf. I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything about WiFi at Turf Moor. On face value it would look like another thing that they could monetise. Those that want to check scores or place bets etc. certainly need something because getting any sort of ‘g’ signal at the ground is nigh on impossible.

O/T to the story of my Slavic descent ex. Minor League Baseball teams here often have theme nights as I’m sure some of you will know. In Lexington, they were 25 cent hot dog nights and $1 beer nights. This woman would eat 14 hot dogs or drink 8 beers on whatever night. In fact we kind of devised a system to maximize the input. Bring a friend/ coworker. Then, One person is always sitting in your seats, one person is always in line (max 2 deals per customer I think?) and one person is always on the way back to the seats with the goodies. And repeat and rotate. Not sure how much baseball we watched mind you.

Hot dogs are already made from multiple types of meat, primarily mechanically separated Chicken.
