Online streaming/content creation

Post by GavlarClaret » Tue Apr 04, 2023 3:26 pm

As per the thread title.... who knows what?

Does anyone have any experience of it in any capacity?

I am around 4 weeks away from 'going live' on Twitch as a gaming streamer - will of course be making sure the Claret and blue is on display and some content is dedicated to our exploits!!

What are you planning on doing? The market is pretty saturated. Are you doing it for fun or to try and make money?

You need to pick something you're good at/knowledgeable about.

With twitch, if you're live streaming, you need to ensure you don't use adult/inappropriate language, because gaming can cause bad language to slip out as you're aware.

I think twitch also allows recorded content to be uploaded, but check that.

Record what you're doing on Twitch and put it on YouTube, create short videos for insta, tiktok, Facebook etc.
Then ensure you're using the correct keywords, hashtags etc to help the algorithms get you to your key audience

You need to speak clearly/concisely but also have varied pitch/tone, because monotone isn't going to attract viewers.

Are you going to be an animated, loud loon like the lads on YouTube called Lankybox, or a bit more calm/sedate?

My son has been doing mainly Overwatch stuff on YouTube and he's had to try various things to make small progressive steps.

Absolutely for fun with the sort of belief that it could grow - if it does then great, no worries if it doesn't.

That said I will be 'pushing all the right buttons' and doing what I can to allow it grow.

It'll be a gaming stream primarily Apex legends, Rocket League, some fortnite etc

What hardware are you running (CPU and GPU)? I'll screenshot some OBS settings depending on what you have.
What's your upload speed? Run a few tests on Ookla's speed test site.

Thanks for the replies... some good advice/comments.

I'm using my Xbox series X primarily but will have streamlabs/OBS on my PC which is usually about good enough for what I want it for.

I'll be upgrading as and when I can but when I go live it will look more than good enough. Its going to take some time and energy to build that's for sure

Please use OBS instead of Streamlabs. Future GavlarClaret will thank you.

'My brother started this thread when his stream was being put together and he's now been live for 2 weeks - it's going well but he can't post on here (anyone know anything about an IP address being blocked from posting for no apparent reason??)
Anyway... for anyone interested the link is below and he is 'revealing' some bespoke game related art that he has got for a background piece at 9pm.. any Clarets either being nosey or who want to support (or even just check the art out) can click rhe link below. He's live at 8pm and art will be revealed at 9pm!
Thanks!

Hi... OP here (- if this sends it seems my IP address block isn't in place anymore hurrah!)

Just wanted to thank anyone who dropped in last night - the stream was a success and a chat message popped up saying 'UTC' which I would assume came from here!!

OP here... Only noticed as I've pulled this thread up that I opened it 2 months ago to the date!

Just had the invite for Twitch Affiliate! I have of course accepted so my stream tonight will be the first of many as an Affiliate - it will be a long hard slog to Partner if it ever comes!

Big Thanks to anyone who interacted in any way!

I wont be hammering the football messageboard on it going forward but for anyone interested I'm broadcasting 5 nights a week from 8pm at Twitch.tv/gboyley - don't be afraid to say Hi in the chat 🙂

UTC!

Shameless bump incoming for anybody interested!

Been at this now 5 months and I'm over the moon with the progress - average views are growing steadily with some exciting spikes and most importantly I'm having an absolute blast!

First time making a schedule (image below) as part of a drive on getting more bodies in for anybody who may have interest in this area or any Clarets wanting to support a fellow claret!

Would love to! Tuesday night this week I'm running some community games in the limited time modes TDM/control/gun run if you fancy and dont mind being on stream? No worries if not we can get added and grab some games another night for sure!

I stream using my Series X as my PC isn't quite strong enough to run the broadcasting software along with a game unfortunately! Of course it is cross platform so doesn't kill it dead! Add me in game TTV GBoyley and we can sort something out!
