13m bid in for Verbruggen according to Nixon.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Burnley boss Vincent Kompany has gone back to his old club Anderlecht with a £13 million offer for keeper Bart Verbruggen.
The Premier League new boys have backed their manager with cash for the Dutch shot stopper who is based one of the best in Europe.
Verbruggen has been on Kompany’s radar for over a year since he left the Belgian side to join Burnley.
Now Burnley want to offer him Premier League football and a start and hope they can agree a fee before talking the player into the move.
Verbruggen has been chased by Liverpool and Manchester United but is not keen on them as he would not start immediately.
Burnley can offer him that chance and that is a major plus. Other clubs are keen too so this may be an auction that drags in rivals.

I’d be super excited about Verbruggen. Would still see Muric as #1 but would be an unbelievable talent to bring in and challenge him.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
If true, that is a big bid for a keeper not to be #1
From what I’ve seen of the lad, I’m guessing kompany wants more of a shotstopper who can still play out with his feet.
Can’t see Muric wanting to be #2

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
If we’re spending 13m+ on him I’d expect he will be pushing for #1 from the immediacy. This lad is one of the most highly rated young keepers in Europe.
It’s certainly showing some ambition and surely points towards there being a relatively large budget available this summer.

Gambling a large part of the expected £130million perhaps?RVclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 7:41 pmIf we’re spending 13m+ on him I’d expect he will be pushing for #1 from the immediacy. This lad is one of the most highly rated young keepers in Europe.

The numbers being quoted in some of our links continue to suggest big spending - they may be of the mark, but hell, if they’re half way to being accurate, how on Earth will it be funded!?
£13 million on a keeper - for Burnley!? Not having it.

Got to think Verburgen will defo be the starting keeper for us if this is true.
Perhaps all the fans that were concerned about Muric in the prem were right

Or maybe VK wants two top class players in each position because he means it when he says we’re not going up just to make up the numbers?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 8:25 pmGot to think Verburgen will defo be the starting keeper for us if this is true.

Perhaps there’s some extra investors behind the scenes we aren’t away of? Just speculation of course.
Also we could make 10m or so in sales this summer, combine that with the reduced wage bill (compared to the record one last time in the Prem) and there should be a healthy amount there without going daft.

£130 mill minimum next year with a much lower wage bill. Owners not concerned with building up a dry powder store.

Well if we land anyone that is a target for Utd,Liverpool and Chelsea then I will start believing Kompany is the second coming.

Has anyone got any YouTube highlights of this lad as they will tell us whether he is good or not

We're are defo going to need a bloody good shot stopper next season. The Premier league oooozes world class strikers....so £13million for a bloody good keeper is well worth it.

I think Muric would start the season as #1 but maybe not end it. And I’d definitely expect Verbruggen to be getting game time.RVclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 7:41 pmIf we’re spending 13m+ on him I’d expect he will be pushing for #1 from the immediacy. From what I’ve seen, Verbruggen isn’t as accomplished with his feet as Muric (although this is based on one game where he hoofed it long every time - an incredible distance By the way - but vid I just posted looks like he has the distribution too) but looked more comfortable shot stopper/commanding his box. So makes me wonder if Vinny might choose his keeper for the game?
Dunno, but take your point that at £13m will be pushing for it very quickly.

To me muric is such a chilled out guy, it’s hard to tell if he would be happy to be number 2 or not, Everything he does is so relaxed, I reckon he would be happy to do whatever

2 top goalkeepers. Hopefully (actually I'd expect) 1st choice will be picked on form..123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 9:32 pmTo me muric is such a chilled out guy, it’s hard to tell if he would be happy to be number 2 or not, Everything he does is so relaxed, I reckon he would be happy to do whatever
But it's all conjecture because we only have one at present.

I don't see why he'd choose BHA over us. Kompany will be a pull.

Oozes? There’s a couple of ‘world class’ strikers, some decent ones and some that are on their day are pretty decent. It Is What It Is wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 9:13 pmWe're are defo going to need a bloody good shot stopper next season. I’m not sure that the Premier League, or any other league, oozes with world class strikers.

It won’t be long at all before we are equivalent to Brighton I suspect.
But, crucially, not yet. We’ll see.

Bart Verbruggen
seems we are about to, if not already, tabled a bid for the 20 year old goalkeeper from anderlecht... believe hes won their player of the year, and if reports are true, both united and liverpool are sniffing around him but hes been put off by knowing he wont play for either regularly. could be a good signing, kompany must know about the lad.

There are stories now out about Brighton’s interest. Imagine it’ll be difficult to get him if they’re in.

That’s positive on Verbruggen then?! On that basis, how many do you have written?
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Verbruggen is a huge talent that reminds of a young Van Der Sar. His footwork is great he's like an extra player on the pitch. In the second half of the season he made his breakthrough as a first keeper for Anderlecht and stunned everybody by winning them multiple games with miraculous saves even against Villareal in the Conference League where he was one of the best performers.
At the moment I'm not sure he's that much better than Muric who played a good season too and is technically very sound. Verbruggen however has the potential of becoming a world class goalie and becoming Dutch national teams number one as well.
He'd be a great signing but he's still young and he should get some time to adjust to the PL as he has now just a few good months of experience at the highest level.
Jelle ten Rouwelaar brought him to RSCA as a 17 year old prospect. He can be a major factor in this transfer in his transfer to Burnley too. Anderlecht on the other hand don't even have a goalkeeping coach at the moment. He would be easily persuaded right now.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Reserve judgement until deals are done. This, along with the machinations surrounding Clarke, aren't really our style....(highly publicised bids for sought-after players)...we're very much an under-the-radar club...not sure if that's just changed overnight.
Kompany isn't without relationships amongst the European elite, and his interest /reputation could easily trigger offers from other British clubs with benefits for the selling club.
Unlikely, maybe, but there could be a symbiotic element to some of our latest actions.
Just sayin.
