So you are believing Townsends version of what precisely happened to VKs then , I would prefer to believe our manager.
Aren’t they the same version of events?

It’s very poor from the club .
What period elapsed between the deal being offered, the shower being taken, and the deal being cancelled? I suspect there was a fair gap between the first 2 elements.

Let it be an object lesson, that sometimes when offered something, if you wait too long, then it will be gone.

I disagree, VK said everything was transparent and that the offer was dependent on two other changing factors, which made the offer eventually void, as explained at the outset by VK in his answer.

This isn’t a given at all.
So we don’t recoup the best part of £60/70m split between Benson, Zaroury, Beyer, Al Dakhil, Muric, and make profit on many others?

I think Townsend was very fair in explaining the situation, and you could not expect Jim White to say anything except "that does not sound very good for Burnley" after one of his guests was hosting the programme and given an account of what happened. AT was quick to praise VK for the comments he made about him, and also how he has transformed the club. I got a very good insight of our progress from AT's comments. He is in a stronger position now after the club had supported him in pre season. Some people on here get too twitchy and never see both sides. Both parties move on and respect each other

I said buying like we have done in the PL isn’t a given.

As RileyBobs said, it’s easier to recoup/make a gain on relatively low fees paid when in the Championship vs paying higher fees for ‘under the radar players’ in the PL.

It’s risky whatever way you look at it.

Kompany explained that a deal was initially offered and terms were agreed with the former England international. However, there were some conditions which influenced whether this deal got over the line or not.

Chief among these was how the club's recruitment developed over the summer, as well as how the Clarets fared in terms of injuires and if more bodies were needed. Nathan Redmond and Luca Koleosho have been recruited this summer in terms of wide men, complementing Manuel Benson and Anass Zaroury.

With all that in mind, Kompany believed it no longer made sense to potentially sign Townsend. But the Clarets boss had nothing both good things to say about the winger and encouraged any managers who require a winger to consider him this summer.

Kompany said: “We initially made sure that we had terms agreed with Andros and we did offer him a deal. But it was pending on a couple of things, mainly where the recruitment was going for us and the recovery of some of the players that we had that were injured in pre-season, so it was quite transparent in that sense.

“But he’s been brilliant, he’s been fit, working hard, he’s been good for our dressing room, but in terms of what we already had in the building and the players we wanted to bring in, it just didn’t make sense for us to complete. But my advice is to any manager that is still looking for a winger to approach him. He’s shown very good signs for us in pre-season.”

It isn't that hard to grasp and understand what happened

As has been explained above, we made a 'conditional' offer, those conditions meant that if we were successful with other offers for players and an easing of the injury situation then it wouldn't go ahead

I don't see what's difficult to understand here.

Agreed, Woodley. I can't see him starting, but he could be a very important impact sub with his free kicks.

Bit surprised by the fact Twine is being loaned out however, if it gives him more guaranteed game time and aids his development and we can recall him then can't see this being anything other than helping him and us get more experience.

He didn't get a full season last year and he took a step up to the championship. Sounds like he is keen according to the Hull reporter so can only assume there is a plan.

The Andros Townsend situation sounds like it has handled professionally and respectfully by all concerned

He looked very good against Benfica and I would have been quite happy if we had signed him - things obviously changed though regards signings and injuries

As others have said we have put him in a far better place than he was when he left Everton having not played for over a year. Not sure what their requirements are in terms of wide players but would have thought clubs like Sheffield United and Luton could be very interested in his availability

Scott Twine is another player who's looked good in what I've seen from pre-season and was hoping with games likely to last 105/110 minutes we'd see him getting regular appearances off the bench

Hopefully we insert a recall clause if Twine does go on loan so that if he tears it up Tella style we can do what Nathan Jones did not and recall him.

I did spot him outside the ground this morning around 11sh, Red Tesla, there was a few other players heading in as well, my thinking was he was dropping his car so it’s there for after the game as they all arrive on a coach to home games now

Could lukebakio play more as a 9
Yes he can. He has speed, long legs, excellent dribbling to hold a ball or take out his defender. Can go deep and play on the counter. A bit like Thierry Henry's playing style in the sense he can play on the sides, his acceleration and dribbling skill. but he used to be more about showboating and entertaining the public when he was young. He needs to work on shooting finishing, being critical, giving assists. Becoming more efficient to sum it up. Which is something VK can definitely help him with. Also in the air he should improve to be a good 9. But I do see him developing into a more complete player in the future.

See what Kompany did to Benson and Zaroury... Lukebakio should be even better. But let's see and keep the pressure off.

There's a great player in Twine. I think this season would be from the bench, at best.
If there's anyone who needs to be playing regularly, given their stage of their career, it' Twine.

Good move. Bring some needed money in. He'll get games and either come back stronger for our next season or will have been in the shop window like Harmer at cov. Hull should be a strong team this year and I think he can continue to grow towards his potential.

Good move all round.

David Moyes in todays press conference

"James Ward-Prowse is having a medical just now. We've agreed a fee but it's not right I speak about him as he's not yet our player."

Ok Moyes……well done for not mentioning it !

To be honest with the players we have brought in I’m not sure twine even gets on a nine man bench we are that strong now. (If the linked players come in).

Makes sense to move him on

It’s indicative of how we approach transfers now. We have several deals on the go at any one time, progress as far as we can and then make a final decision. That looks to be exactly what has happened here.

I think it's best Twine does get out on loan and has a full season of Championship under his belt. I don't think Hull is the right move personally, but if he plays week in, week out then it'll do him and us good.

At this moment in time the EPL is a step too far for Twine. By playing regularly in the Championship, it will allow him to come back and allow the odd glimpses of brilliance he has shown, to be done on a more regular and consistent basis. We need to specify game time or recall him if this is not being honoured

I'd much prefer if he went somewhere better than Hull. I can't see them being anywhere near the top of the Championship.

From what he’s shown since joining us I don’t think it’s been enough to expect him to walk into a top Championship side.

At least at Hull you’d hope he starts most weeks.

Haven't seen much from him to convince his level his top of the Championship. Definitely needs a loan out as I can't imagine he'll feature much this season.

It’ll leave us to pick up the pieces next season with a player that has been to Hull and back.
Well he is a diamond.

Slow day being a match night. I was hoping for more.

For those who don’t like how we have bids ongoing for several players at once for the same position, this is quite common and the deals can be halted even after a medical so long as the paperwork isn’t signed

I would take Tyler Adams.

I think we have to assume when Ramsey signs Twine is off on loan.My 8 year old will be gutted. Wore his Twine 11 top all last season when he hardly played and now this!
