Correct. I just read "I can't be bothered arguing with people like you", followed by a whole page of ping pong childish arguing. Both equally as bad as each other. Hopeless.

Burnley's interest in Georges Mikautadze has resurfaced, with reports that the Clarets have tabled 'an opening offer' for the Metz centre-forward.

The word bicker seems to have fallen out of trend on here, only used 4 times in 2023 so far which is a real disappointment. I'm hoping this thread delivers.

The last word in the title you quoted, still like having discussions about players, what big football fan doesn’t like discussing players. Can do that without listening to every link that’s postedarise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 8:48 amIn that case, why are you reading and posting on a thread entitled “Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion”?

Wow.....
What a player this lad is. Not every signing has to 'fit the model' and sometimes you just have to look at the quality. But wages...?
Super hypothetical obviously, but let's say Milik signed....would he be the highest quality footballer we've had in recent history?
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Some are pinch of salt stuff but we've been linked with a totally different profile of player to what most (any?) of us are used to.
Ajax, Juventus, Marseille, Napoli. Champions League, Europa League, Conference League. 67 caps for Poland. Euros and a World Cup. And he's only 29.

Milik is superb when he's on it, but he's another with a pretty chequered injury record
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
To be fair to Alan Pace he set his stall out with players like Cornet and (at the time) Weghorst, both levels above the kind of player we were targeting before. It looks set to continue if any of the early rumours are true.

Another big name linked, Fabian Ruiz (ex Napoli) of PSG.

The amount of players we’ve been linked with so far is outrageous.
Although not as outrageous as being linked to Fabian Ruiz. He’s on a long and pretty handsome contract at PSG as well to add to the unlikelihood of this being true.
Around £80k a week if I worked it out correctly

A solid Premier a league footballer, no doubt, just not of the level that the likes of Chelsea, Man United etc. are aiming for.
With that assessment, lump on him for FPL next season!!

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Ruiz and Milik
I remember other clubs of our size going a bit crazy, Bolton did it but what they signed were often aged journeymen, Boro signed Juninho but they didn’t have many of that calibre. Brentford have tried but don’t really have the reach. We seem to be doing the Brighton thing, multiple strong players and in their 20s, Bloom is a professional poker player of old and maybe that mentality is similar to the Wall Street mentality of Pace?
It is highly exciting. Within a year or two (before he is poached) we could have one of the best managers in the world. If we have players to match that profile it will be an amazing ride. I doubt we will get Ruiz or Milik, but it is interesting they were both at Napoli together and there may be a tactic in using one to lure another (ditto Ekdal with Gyokeres but I bet he is now option C). What I feel sure about though is there is a determination to really hit the division hard.
My prediction for next season is 7th on that basis. Crazy, I know.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
You have to create a culture so better players are wanting to join you. If we're linked with some higher profile names then we are more likely to attract better players.
Also, making a high profile signing can also make it look like you mean business.
Gone are the little ol' Burnley days.

Good! I think with Luton being in the PL this year some fans will have the unique opportunity to see what our fan base has been like in recent years, and how tiresome it is to other fans to hear.
Little old Luton happy to be here.
