Not as many as we'd like and one problem is finding how many are sold on Amazon. The club shop took a hundred. It's a rare BFC book that sells more than a thousand. Publisher I used to use in Skipton never printed more than 600 of anything.

Not sure why they would to be honest. The club is in a totally different place now and is building for the future.
Pace and his team are professionals with a vision, so no need to look back.
The club feels so much fresher all round since they came in and long may it continue.

Just finished this book. What a good read it was!
Few things strike me - just how often we’ve tried to buy the cricket club, how often (even when we hit the big time) we were still reliant on director loans and just how much is involved in being a club director!
Oh and for those that always questioned it, Holt believed it was Dyche who didn’t want to go with foreign signings which goes against the grain of what Dyche has always said.

He shared my views on Bernard Rothwell, that's for sure, and it's clear he was no fan of Garlick. One or two things in there that I knew about but was asked to keep to myself. One of them was about Eddie Howe. Most of you will know I was pleased to see him leave but always defended his decision to return to Bournemouth, the reason now exposed by Clive in the book.
One thing I've always said about Clive Holt, whatever you think about him, he's a fan. He still rarely misses an under-21 game at Leyland. I don't think I've seen another director at one of their games over the years.

My mother wrote to the directors (either individually or as a body, I can't remember) during the Chalky White alleged attempted takeover, suggesting that perhaps the directors ought to step aside. I think she got one letter back, but Clive Holt rang up and had a long discussion - about 45 minutes - about the club and his position. All very amicable.
One thing any club director might have wanted to pick his brains about was how to build 2 stands, 14k capacity, for £6m. It was less than half the price per seat that other clubs were building at. (£100 per seat was typical.) And with half of it coming from grants, it was net £3m, roughly. I know the stands get a fair bit of stick, but for the money we had available at the time, it's a good effort.
(It might be better if the ground was rotated 180 degrees. The new stands would have the wind behind them when it rains so the high roof wouldn't matter so much; the low roof of the Bob Lord would offer better protection. Anyone got a big turntable?)

Lots of really interesting bits and pieces in it. I won’t spoil it for those who haven’t read it yet but I was astonished SD’s first contract was £275k a year.
As I say, really good read and I’d recommend it to anyone. An easy read and any Burnley fan would find it really interesting.

That’s right, but I think the majority (me included) thought it was a combination of the death of his mother and his family not settling in the area.

It was his brother. I was told at the time he left but was asked to keep it private. All I’ll say is that I believe that family comes first and for that I have every respect for what he did.

When I worked in the Guest Bar mid 90s one of my jobs was to top up the drinks cabinet in the Directors Lounge. As a result I used to chat with most of them. Doc Iven was always the first in for Saturday matches and would keep me for quite a chat. The rest varied between fairly pleasant and ignorant, arrogant full of their own self important tossers. Clive and Bob Blakeborough in the former category. Teasdale out somewhere in the middle.Basil Dearing I think left during my time so I didn't have much of an opinion of him. Which just leaves Bernard Rothwell.....

Just finished reading this in holiday. A very good read, couple of things in there that I never knew and some things I suspected were confirmed.
Two things I took from this book are just how big a fan and how committed Clive is to our club and how much work he put into the role of director and for a time club secretary.
