Part of the shifting them was it being the anniversary kit, both home and away kits. As I’ve said, the club shop don’t have records beyond around seven or eight years.bumba wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 4:57 pmThis season's is in another league compared to 09/10 season, it is very boring.
Word from club shop is that it's broken records with the amount sold not just for the first day but in general.
If we released 09/10 as our kit next season I bet it wouldn't be as popular.
Like you've said it was our first season back in the prem that's why we shifted some

On the success of this seasons shirt -
I think it’s pretty obvious isn’t it?
I’ve never seen more people at the turf/away wearing anyone shirt at once - not to mention due to its uniqueness a lot of streamers and other ‘influencers’ have been rocking it.
Absolutely will have blown the 09/10 shirt away

I liked it at the time I must admit ..Roosterbooster wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 4:43 pmAh. Indeed. I'd forgotten about that one. I really liked it at the time, I had one. Not so keen now. I think it could be nice still with some subtle gold to it. And proper gold like in the SU kit, not yellow
Re: Next seasons kit
Definitely a fine line but this season's is very popular and they've nailed it bang on.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 5:00 pmYup - I’d prefer traditional but this is what is needed.
Fine line between a bit saucy/cool/unique and being a disaster though…
For me claret & blue is our tradition, how the designers see fit to use the colours I'm easy with as long as it's popular and nice

I'd like to see the numbers on how many 'youngsters around the globe' bought this season's kit. Not many I would suspect.
The whole thrust of the branding from the club's owners - as reflected in JJ Watt's recent media comments - is around authenticity and tradition in a modern context. The shirt should reflect that.

Seen it numerous times on threads were people are asking who the children or people are on TV wearing this season's Burnley shirt because they live no where near the town.forzagranata wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 7:34 pmI'd like to see the numbers on how many 'youngsters around the globe' bought this season's kit. It's been sold on a lot of big retailers websites.
What makes claret with blue sleeves tradition?
We've had different colours and styles over the years. Look at the historical kit line of Burnley

The income from shirts is also a lot smaller than people might think. I'd guess only around 3-4 quid per shirt goes to the club.

Home kit is not all claret, but we won't have white shorts or socks. One of the away kits is yellowburnmark wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 10:11 pmCheers. Suprised we’ve gone navy blue again after having it last season. I’d thought we’d be due a yellow one.
Don’t like the sound of all claret at home. Last time we had that combination was the Cotterill season where we went forever without winning a game. So much so, he changed the shorts and socks to the previous seasons white ones to try a change of luck.

Not great when kids can’t get a proper replica shirt as there is a betting sponsor on there.

A reason I’ve always thought the club could design their own unique shirt, rather than brand design, and have it manufactured for 50p. Now that would generate income.forzagranata wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 8:01 pmThe income from shirts is also a lot smaller than people might think. Re: Next seasons kit
I can live with BK8 but don’t want a foreign language on the shirt. What’s the point of being sponsored by a business that 99% of us can’t read? That’s rhetorical, I know what the viewing figures are in the Far East.

Agree with that
Although when we had FUN88 for the 2014-15 kit, they did the kids kits with BFC82 in the same font with a bee, hand and lion instead of the Chinese symbols, which at least made it “look similar” which I thought was clever

It has a claret trim with a black stripe running downwards, behind the crest.
Re: Next seasons kit
Couldn't care less where the betting company is based. Burnley, Jersey, Macao or North Korea. It's a betting company. And stylistically, culturally, no-one is remembering any shirt from any club in twenty, thirty years with a betting company across the front. The shirts we wore for our first European fixtures in how many years? You can pick them up for about £30. They should be iconic, sought after things. Can anyone even remember it?
Made some strides last season with a unique shirt and, for want of a better word, a trendy sponsor. It's increased the profile. Go in Classic Football Shirts on Deansgate, Manchester. There are three designated, special areas. One's for City, one's for United and one's for well you guessed it.
We're one club for all apparently but not if your little lad or lass wants to wear the same shirt their heroes wear.
And yes, money talks, I know, I know. Of course it does. It's just a shame. Hey ho.

This Norwich BK8 story came up on here a while ago.
As I said at the time - getting upset at your gambling sponsor for some risqué ads is like falling out with your smack dealer on ideological grounds because he got a speeding fine.

At a guess I'd have said nearer to 35-40% GP so that does surprise me, 5000 shirts at £4, its not worth paying 1 person to run your club shop at those marginsforzagranata wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 8:01 pmThe income from shirts is also a lot smaller than people might think. Re: Next seasons kit
Don’t get the issue with sponsorship from a betting company when nearly all on here will pay for sky? How often can you watch sky without an advert for their betting range.
Re: Next seasons kit
Burnley played in the SkyBet Championship last season. If you tried to avoid all of the betting links with football then you'd no longer follow football.Stockbrokerbelt wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 3:25 pmDon’t get the issue with sponsorship from a betting company when nearly all on here will pay for sky? Sickening - all this betting sponsorship. Absolutely disgusting. People are betting themselves into debt, illness and death. This disease must never be underestimated.

Wasn’t that long ago that beer sponsors were prevalent on the front of kits…
Re: Next seasons kit
It can be an addiction for some but it’s not a disease. It may lead to other illnesses a bit like alcohol addiction can. For the vast majority it’s probably the odd flutter and is left at that. In the same way the majority can enjoy a drink and leave it at that.Im_not_Robbie_Blake wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 10:18 pmSickening - all this betting sponsorship. Absolutely disgusting. I would caveat this by objecting to companies that target kids with mobile phone gambling/game apps. Banning companies that offer horse racing or football betting is probably using a sledge hammer to crack a nut.
Re: Next seasons kit
I doubt a football shirt sponsorship has led many down that path.Im_not_Robbie_Blake wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 10:18 pmSickening - all this betting sponsorship. Absolutely disgusting. People are betting themselves into debt, illness and death. This disease must never be underestimated.
Re: Next seasons kit
Pretty close in terms of the shirt being sold to retailers. The picture is a bit different at Burnley because the vast majority of shirts are sold through the club shop so you make quite a bit more money there, but obviously with the sacrifice of not selling as many shirts.forzagranata wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 8:01 pmThe income from shirts is also a lot smaller than people might think. Realistically though, most shirt deals have a big advance and you would have to sell a lot of shirts to get into the part where you then start getting additional revenue.
Umbro deals are actually with this company https://www.gldgroup.com/ Umbro is just a brand-name owned by an American company now.

Wasn’t there some skullduggery by Ashley with Umbro, which culminated in Umbro losing the England shirt deal to Nike?aggi wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 2:29 pmPretty close in terms of the shirt being sold to retailers. I think at that point Nike owned Umbro. They took the shirt deal over and then sold off Umbro to Iconix. Don't think there was any involvement with Ashley.

Assuming the BK8 deal was agreed around the time you posted on 6th, and let’s say it takes a month to get the logos printed on the kits, hopefully we’ll see it early July?

It won't be until they've confirmed a sponsor and then got them printed.
