It’s been far too long since we had claret and blue hooped socks. Is it ten years since?

If I had my way, we’d always have them with the home kit.
What’s your view on plainish Claret ?

Dare I suggest the Adidas quartered shirt?
I'd love this! Or one inspired by the 88-89 claret checkerboard.
I'm a big fan of this season's kit since day one. It's distinctive and unique, it's memorable. Remember also that next season we've got two other clubs in claret and blue, and a club in red and royal blue, to contend with. Having something eyecatching that stands us out even subtly will be important for less familiar overseas viewers.

Chelsea have had a couple of different kits in recent years that did this really well IMO- the 2019-20 and 2021-22 kits both had patterns on their usual blue and made for more memorable kits.

But then I dress loud and garish at the best of times so I will like a colourful patterned kit, not known for my fashion taste.

I’m not a fan. Our home socks should be white or claret and blue hoops. Likewise the shorts should always be white.

I take it we are getting claret socks then?

I’ve never liked the hooped socks .. I’d prefer White too but I’m not expecting to see much white on the new kit.

A bit of old and a bit of new. The standard colour scheme, but with a black outlined stencil picture of Barnes wheeling away from goal and Kaminski still falling into the net all over it in three by three inch squares.

If I can’t have claret and blue hoops, I’d opt for white socks for the home kit.

We always win the league when we have a flecked pattern on the kit.

I say we go for mor flecks and start planning for the champions league.
Flecking good point that!

One more year.

Can’t wait to be honest. They’ve done some good kits ti be fair - all three this year and the navy third last year - but in general pretty poor and cheap looking in my view. same with the training wear - shared with a million other teams & all black in the main. Could be massively improved to appeal to a younger audience.

Will reserve judgement if they turn out a great set this year, plus some good training gear, but in general I imagine a change is needed. Kids and younger group really care what the kits look like.

I agree Newclaret. These megadeals kill all creativity (OK - the Happy Place ones aside...). If I look back at my favourite 'official' Burnley t-shirts bought they are:

> Longside 1882
> Didnt buy one, but was tempted with one of those t shirts that were designed by a couple of lads that looked like Pretty Green designs.

Anyway, while trying to find an example of the psuedo PG design ones I found this....

Cheers. Suprised we’ve gone navy blue again after having it last season. I’d thought we’d be due a yellow one.

Don’t like the sound of all claret at home. Last time we had that combination was the Cotterill season where we went forever without winning a game. So much so, he changed the shorts and socks to the previous seasons white ones to try a change of luck.

I love this seasons home shirt and the third kit.

I was told by an NFL following friend of mine that JJ Watt was one of Nikes biggest athletes - could we see the clarets sporting this soon?

That’s a really good point actually - perhaps!

I think we will at least start to see a lot more ‘merch’ - we’ve already began a little with the new caps and some of the stuff Watt has been rocking without actually being for sale anywhere…

That’s interesting. I’d be so happy with Nike.

I think we’ll need to make a shift if we want to sell more gear in the US anyway.

I hope they release it before the July holidays this year.

They agree designs and place orders around August/September of the previous year, so whatever the strip looks like it was chosen months ago. And because our sales aren’t big enough (Man U/Arsenal/Liverpool levels), we’ll be choosing from a limited amount of design templates I would think. We’ll be able to make subtle changes and choose the quality of material, but that’ll probably be it.

I like the hooped socks, but white is probably better for the players to pick out teammates quicker, which I think was mentioned years ago by a former manager?

I'm a broken record but, in my opinion, all the shirts and merch would be better with the badge we stopped using in 09. I find it weird you can't buy anything with it on from the club, except for the Score Draw replica kits. It's a shame. I've never liked the current badge and it's a shame it wasn't for just one season as initially intended.

But having said that, there's been an improvement on what's on offer and can only imagine that continuing.

Indeed they do - how quick it’s released will be reliant upon how soon they arrange a shirt sponsor . Photoshoot has been completed .

Be perfectly happy with the late 70’s-80’s Umbro home shirts given a nod in the new kit.

Because that ruins the fun ;) . Outside of jest its because giving away exactly what information one has makes one more likely to put those sharing said information at risk, the kit is claret and blue although if its was indicated to me properly its a very dark tone of claret

No;That’s the bus station and multi storey car park, with the walk way over to the Arndale shopping centre.
The nightclub (Sands and others) was under the east side of the shopping centre. One of the few places I’ve been thrown out of ;)

But having said that, there's been an improvement on what's on offer and can only imagine that continuing.
Our merchandise needs a massive overhaul.

The leisure wear could be so good by using more subtle versions of old badges, and I find Umbro’s training gear pretty plain & boring.

Think JJ & Kealia’s caps they’ve designed themselves, they’re not available in the shop anyway & are some of the best caps we’ve had in years. Really hope JJ gets involved in the merchandise anyway. If we want to appeal to American audiences we need to sell great kit.

Thanks Tony, not what I was hoping for, but good to know all the same. Expectations set now :)
