We had a great time recording it last night. Probably would have needed another hour or two to go through all the honourable mentions we all had. So difficult to choose who to stick in and who to leave out. Spent a good few nights pondering who was going to make the final XI after Simon suggested it as an idea for this week's episode.

It all depends on how far back you can go of course, but for your generation, Duff and Marney are good shouts.
Yeah quite true, I only included the players I watched live as they are my personal favourites :D Duff clearly not the best CB we've had in my lifetime (I am 32), but he always gave everything.

I agreed with whoever said you can't leave out Billy Hamilton up front. Growing up in the 80s, I just associate him with Burnley.

Thanks for all your contributions on here and on social media for our favourite all-time Clarets XI - it's been fantastic looking through them!

New episode out now - we discuss the win at Fulham plus Justin gives his favourite XI and we look at some of the suggestions you guys and girls made that didn't make our line-ups.

Loving the podcast guys. It's like talking to your mates. Keep up the good work!

Just something to reflect on- a couple of people have said to me it would be more mainstream/ widely listened to with a bit less swearing!

It's ironic they talk about the lack of work Amdouni does off the ball, yet it was his work off the ball that led to our first goal.

Keep the swearing and the colloquialisms! The more authentic the better.

There’s enough sanitised crap that you can tune into on the airwaves!

Just listened to the latest From the Bee Hole End podcast and really enjoyed the favourite ever Burnley XI segment. Thought I would add my own below. For those who didn't listen, it's 4-4-2 and our favourite players (not necessarily the best players).

Jensen
Trippier Duff Mee Ward
Elliot Marney Defour Little
Blake Barnes
Favourites (definitely not best XI)
Jensen
West Duff Gnohere Mee
Eagles Barton Defour Little
Blake Ade

Bench:
Heaton
Trippier
Grezza
J. O'Connor
Elliott
Arfield
Barnes

They’re not talking to their mates, they are broadcasting to men, women and children.

I have it on in the house or in the car, often my family listen in.

Think the guys are doing a great job but I do cringe when I have to explain to the family why the podcast can say f off but they can’t repeat it. To be fair its a problem with the whole unregulated internet space, I’m not picking on the guys. Seems a shame to keep kids away from everything online but sometimes we have to and it limits the target audience.

Isn’t it supposed to be middle aged chaos having a chat about the game and the club down the pub? It’s why I like it so much, it’s just honest views, with. Bit of humour, references that many kids won’t get, and I think it would lose loads if it was another sanitised, safe space for all…. The market is saturated with that, in Burnley podcasts and sports podcasts in general.

It’s a difficult on because we don’t want to lose what we feel is the authenticity around the conversations. I’d hope that people don’t think it’s excessive swearing or punctuating every sentence with an expletive.

We’ve tried to pitch ourselves as the ‘grown up’ Burnley podcast and that sometimes does come with more mature and robust language.

But I do absolutely take on board the point made and it is something we’ll continue to be mindful of.

Latest episode is out now :D

Following your Liverpool debrief;
Agree with the panellists that the second half was very positive. It did mirror the Fulham game with Taylor, Odobert, Berge and the much improving Trafford our stand out players. Poor from Tressor, largely anonymous and I think you’ve over egged the pudding concerning Amdouni. Limited impact and a sizeable loss should he be sold.
Good shout on the need for a Dawson type figure, however, I doubt Kompany/Pace would move for such a signing as it neither fits the DNA of the “project” and there, of course, lies the problem. I personally wouldn’t give the manager a single Euro in the window. It’s pretty obvious that we will be relegated and his Summer recruitment was poor. Instead save the money for the close season and look properly at who’s available and learn lessons. The first one being successful teams need a blend of young talent crucially blended with experience and know how.
That’s assuming Kompany is still in situ………
Keep up the good work with the Podcast. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.

New episode out now in all the usual places (plus https://pod.link/1688380656)

Luton debrief (including THAT VAR controversy) plus we answer questions left for us on Twitter/X.

Also features one of the panel saying 'it just doesn't feel like Burnley anymore...' - find out who on the podcast!

I thought Barry Kilby and his openness around financial matters was a bit rose-tinted glasses in the last episode. Could you imagine the outrage if ALK had quietly sold Turf Moor to a company based in a tax haven and it was only discovered by someone on a messageboard looking at a companies house database 6 months later?

I concur, there is much about the ownership in the Kilby years - which I run through to the ALK/VSL takeover - which many tend to gloss over.

Thanks again, another good listen over lunch.

Had to smile about Simon’s passionate defence of Brownhill, I thought of the comment I made on the Tresor thread at the weekend that Burnley fans love a runner and a tackler, over and above flair. I see that as our achilles heel as fans.

The end product of Josh at this level is way, way short of what is needed (just compare him to Barkley who the panel were calling a nearly man - output is way beyond Brownhill over a career at this level, he plays for Luton and no doubt could have played for us).

The other comment I’d have - we have been sensational since the Everton defeat, won one, deserved to win two more but for officials (draw Villa at minimum), close to deserving to knock Spurs out of the cup too. Why are we suddenly all resigned to not being good enough and not enjoying the team just because of one game that was a relegation battle as dour and nervy as they tend to be, with little skill on show?

So come on guys, keep the faith

Good episode.

I’d love to be a nearly man! 33 England caps, 6 goals and played for some great clubs.

Good pod, just on only thinking we could get 16m for Odobert, just think Southampton got 70m for lavia after having a pretty average season

Wouldnt have thought wed entertain any offers below 30 mill for Odobert but if he downs tools then it could be a problem. Thats probably true of a few of our players who wouldnt want to play in the Champ and is part of the problem when signing players from all over the world that have absolutely no attachment to Burnley or English football in general.

Yep, i suppose it depends as well if we can get bidding wars going, think there was a few in for Lavia which pushes the price up.
Its important even if we go down that we still do well in the last part of the season for this reason, the better we do the better prices we can demand for any players we look to move on

Wasn't that related to ITV Digital? on the broader point Burnley was a small company with a turnover of around £11 million in Kilby's era. It was possible for a local millionaire to pick it up and run with it and there were a number prepared to do that over the years.

Now we are talking about owners who borrow almost £50 million from the club and have debts running into tens of millions who have no significant personal wealth and are foreign nationals.

I think the level of concern is heightened because of the level of jeopardy to the club and frankly the risk inherent to the business model.

I have posted this before on the takeover thread - it shows that things un Kilby were never really that healthy - just about manageable, and all directors contributed to help covering the constant losses - it also looks at a cost of football over the period, which is a little different to the proposed squad cost rules for the Premier League in 2025/26 and already taking effect in UEFA club competition

Only in that was when the problems started. I think the ground was sold to Barry Kilby ~ 2005 and it was the Coyle promotion season in 2009 when the ground was then quietly sold to a BVI company.

Turnover was much lower but the level of jeopardy at that point was probably higher, I've said elsewhere that if we hadn't gone up under Coyle we would almost certainly have ended up in administration.

You think the current situation is going to end well? Rhetorical question - I guess neither of us wants to go round that treadmill again.

Who knows. At least there is a semblance of a plan, even if I'm not overly keen on it.

In the 2000s the plan was survive and hope for a miracle (which Coyle duly delivered).

Unfortunately a technical problem uploading this week's episode. Hopefully will be resolved soon and the episode will be available tomorrow.

Some really good points made.

Woody - with the amount of youngsters in the team, what do we expect when it comes to lack of leadership etc

Bodes - what must Muric be thinking? Where’s the jeopardy for Trafford when he knows he will
play every week no matter what?

There’s an element of repetitive misery about this season, that goes beyond what’s happening on the pitch. I’m not sure I can inflict the podcast on myself again this week.

We’re not very good. Not much changes on the pitch week after week. Same discussions on here and on other forms of media week after week. Rarely anything new or insightful gets said.

I’m sure it’s been the same every time we’ve fared badly, but somehow it feels more miserable than usual this season. It’s my main hobby/passion, so I’ll foolishly keep looking on here etc, but I’ll be glad to when this season is over.

Not a dig at the podcast lads by the way. It’s mostly been a good listen. I suspect they couldn’t have chosen a worse season to launch. It’s pretty much the same taking points every week and not much they can do about that.

Don't worry mate, I'll be back for this week's episode (all the way from Hamburg!) to inject some optimism and positivity!!

100% get what you're saying and we do try and mix it up a bit... the whole shebang is just so miserable this season!

It's been absolute dross since Spurs at home onwards really.

Easily the worst season in recent memory - a cross between the twilight zone & groundhog day.
