Are these actually road works? Just looked like a row of cones last night. Makes me feel like it's been done deliberately to stop traffic tailing back up Ormerod Road. A lot more wagons and buses rerouting up there due to the Yorkshire Street closure and in the narrow sections where the car parking spaces switch sides you can't get a large vehicle through if there's a queue on one side.
Think that is correct and it is a good idea. It just takes one vehicle trying to turn right at the bottom of Ormerod and traffic backs well up the Road as it stops left turns as well.

Still little progress on completing the footway renewal outside the Wellington. So still only 1 lane coming down Tod Road. Crazy.

Now all the kerbs are in past the turf it’s clear it’s going to have the widest pavements of any road in town which on non match days is used by hardly anyone and irrelevant on match days as the whole road is closed ! Also heaven help us if people try and stop outside the ticket office or anywhere else to pick up or drop off anyone as the road is barely wide enough for vehicles to pass

thats a positive, people who used to park outside the club on non match days used to cause hell for the rest of the traffic. they'll have to walk 20 yards across the road now, i'm sure they'll cope

If you had trouble getting past a parked car, you really shouldn’t be driving.

That photo has reminded me just how tatty the Cricket Field stand looks.
It does look dreadful from that angle. Surely not too expensive to clad it like the opposite end? Bob Lord looks awfully shabby too.

I can just about manage that but as one of the main roads into town is now no wider than a back street in Burnley wood and easily the narrowest A road into town I may be waiting quite a long time for a gap in the traffic coming the other way to get passed anyone who parks on it.

It was gravel last Sunday, and yes the surface, if finished, is far from ideal.
Quite deep gravel.
I had a look yesterday and the canal towpath surface has been finished with a resin bonded gravel.

I had a walk on the towpath a couple of days ago and it was fine, as it was a couple of weeks earlier when I walked down.

As for the work - it's like one long building site now from the Park View to the Keirby roundabout. I know it's an 18 month project but there looks to still be some work to do to get Harry Potts Way done which will be needed for the first game.

I really hope they finish the replacement footway at the Wellington lights BEFORE they reopen Yorkshire Street, so that there are 2 lanes on Tod Road and Belvedere Road.

Article says the road is remaining closed until Friday the 11th.
I'd say that's cutting it a bit fine.

You do when you are scheduled on an Autumn/Winter job, however with a ridiculously tight schedule like this project you do expect so many rained off days but let's face it July has been poor. Sometimes with civil it's not the rain, it's the intensity of the rain that's the issue ,it can wipe out a day's prep in minutes.
Edit
It is LCC as well !

This afternoon I drove down Plumbe St and there are easy to see no entry signs, before the Miners and a single lane, stopping access to Yorkshire St. It didn't stop 1 idiot ignoring the signs and, driving down it on the right hand side of the street.

It’s all very well updating but it defeats the object of looking good on match days ,once the first few hundreds of the crowd starting arriving the following masses won’t be able to see the pavements.

I think it was as much about widening the footpaths as the aesthetics.

But it will look good the other six and three quarter days a week when there isn’t a match on.

Football stadiums are odd places. Huge resource, lots of expense, sat dormant for the vast majority of the year.

If we can use the stadium and surrounding area outside of March days for things that will increase revenue. The other thing to say is that if we’re going to present ourselves as a proper Premier League club then our home should look like one - and this is a step toward that.

Matrix signs on Yorkshire Street now saying the Culvert is closed until the end of August. Hoping that's a miscommunication rather than the reality.
