Premier league predictions

Post by Newcastleclaret93 » Sun May 28, 2023 7:03 pm

Now we now who we will be playing next season.

Where do you predict Burnley will finish? (I know it’s difficult to predict right now but just for fun).

I am going to say 12th - 15th on 42-44 points. Benson and Foster to be break out players in the premier league.

You're right, it's pretty much impossible but for a laugh I'll say 9th and I don't think that's massively unrealistic depending on signings etc.

Yes, I'll go for that. It's higher than I thought we'd finish this time last year, so I hope I'm equally wrong.

What are you basing that Foster prediction on you madman!?

I watched him before we signed him and really liked him.

I just think he’s more suited to a counter attacking side (which I personally expect us to be this season).

I can honestly see him and Benson causing a few teams a lot of problems on the break.

Hopefully you are right but I can’t see it from what he offered in the league below.

I'd take 17th now and it would be a brilliant achievement, make no mistake.

I do believe though that there is a chance we actually have a great season and finish 9th or something, if we get our recruitment right again.

I think a finish that high is achievable but we would need someone of Defours quality in the middle of the pitch.

I have a feeling the early fixtures will be relatively kind and we’ll fly out the blocks on this seasons momentum and have quite a decent points haul before December.

Agreed. Teams live and die by the strength of their midfield in the PL. We absolutely need to get that bit of recruitment bang on this summer.

It's going to be tough in the championship next season, it was a good time to go up, anything 17th or above will do for the first season back as others have mentioned

With current squads the best measure right now is the season just gone when we finished ten points above them

Fair enough - or you could look at how each side fared against PL opposition this season

I think we both played two PL sides in the FA cup with both winning one. I reckon the Championship table is a fairer way of assessing. Anyway, neither will have their current squads obviously

ask me once the transfer window closes, as it is we will be bottom 3. A few injuries and we are screwed, need some better strength in depth and improvement of the starting 11 to be competitive imho

Confident of top 10 but if I had to pick a particular position I’d go 7th. Having said that we literally could finish anywhere. So many players who did so well last season but completely untested in the Prem League. My optimism is based as much on Kompany and Pace as it is on our players.

It was a terrible division this year and it won’t improve next. All 3 relegated sides will be losing top players and will be bringing in new managers. I don’t see much quality coming up although I like the Ipswich manager. It could, though, be a very tight division won with a low total.

Kompany hasn't come to grovel around in the basement looking for 0-0 draws with the odd smash and grab.

We'll finish somewhere in the top 8, Mark my words.

A very realistic 12th with current squad..if Tella & Benson aren't there...16th.

Watch out for Wolves struggling next season, appalling end to the one just gone and an old squad with Moutinho, Dawson, Costa etc, Neves on his way as well.

Wouldn't surprise me if Notts Forrest have a difficult campaign, 15th for us.

More confident than on previous promotions. As mentioned above Kompany doesn’t want to just scrape by. I think 12th but hard to say until we see shape of all squads. Think there will easily be 3 worse teams.

I agree about Wolves, talk of the manager wanting out as well over their financial situation. I know they aren't really our rivals but you have to fancy the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea to be much better, and probably Everton.
I fancy us to stay up and finish somewhere between 12th and 15th.

Seems to be some issues at Wolves regarding finances as their excellent manager had made clear. His future looks uncertain there.
