Leicester need to do some serious accounting. They will lose some off the wages as there are about 7 players out of contract that they paid £100m for. The problem is that they won't make any money on them.

Re: Ouch
We had our own doomsday predictions when we got relegated - it all comes down to good recruitment and management. They're going to make a lot of money on the likes of Maddison, Barnes, Tielemans; they just need to reinvest a share wisely, like we did.

Re: Ouch
Everything will sort itself out, Leeds & Leicester will be a force in the championship a lot is said about how long it takes to bounce back & years in the wilderness, they'll be up there & a force to be reckoned with next season. Big clubs always find a way eventually a odd 1 might slip through the net & remain stagnated but it doesn't take long I think the championship is really weak despite people claiming it's strong. It's a massive jump down & small jump up for the club's that are prepared & it doesn't take much preparation with a solid bedrock.
Re: Ouch
Tielemans is out of contract so they won't make anything on him. They have borrowed on upcoming TV money as well but the owner is, supposedly, going to finance them. I suppose it depends if they can do what we did with sorting the manager out and moving players in and out in time to gel.Flying Without Ings wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 1:01 amWe had our own doomsday predictions when we got relegated - it all comes down to good recruitment and management. It's Leicester, they'll just go into administration and not pay anyone again ! (that's a joke btw)

Re: Ouch
They seem to be in a similar situation to us with players good enough for the Premier league still under contract who are likely to leave plus an apparent shed load of players OOC who may refuse another contract or not get one. What we did last season was pretty uncommon and if like us Leicester have a massive turn over of staff then I think mid-table next season or maybe the play offs is as much as we will see.
I wonder if they will go for Pearson again?

I can't see the Leicester owner funding a return to the Premiership, he's not as interested as his dad - at all?. Leicester's success was founded on a Thai sugar daddy and the good fortune of discovering Jamie Vardy. That flow of money and goals has dried up over the last three years and are unlikely to return anytime soon

Re: Ouch
His dad would have "smelt the coffee" some time ago and planned better. The son and now current owner is more interested in horse racing and funds a large stable of racing thoroughbreds (King Power Racing). This is where his attention, love and I guess money goes too. COVID also had a huge impact on duty free sales , where the money was previously made, and the son only owns a fraction of his fathers wealth.Like us 12 months ago they need to attract the right bright new manager and master mind a rebuild . There is talk down here of them trying to get Graham Potter-for me someone like Michael Carrick could be a good fitAfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 8:14 amI can't see the Leicester owner funding a return to the Premiership, he's not as interested as his dad - at all?. Re: Ouch
Unfortunately they will still end up with a very good squad of players for the championship. As above the key for them will be getting the right manager if they don’t stick with Smith

I do find it hard to believe how Leicester has managed to get themselves relegated with the quality of players that they had available.

Defensive frailties amplified by losing Schmeichel, Vardy losing his touch and nobody sufficiently stepping up to replace him.Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 9:23 amI do find it hard to believe how Leicester has managed to get themselves relegated with the quality of players that they had available.
They need to improve at the back, and for the PL need a new striker, but Iheanacho should still be good enough for the Championship. Vardy could go either way given the physicality and deep defending of the league.
They'd have been very well served getting Dyche in honesty. Mate of mines second team is Leicester from being at uni nearby years back (well before their PL glory). He was gutted Dyche went to Everton.
I don't think it's a given they'll bounce back. They'll lose a lot of quality players and be in a bind to replace them. Hope they do though as always want more away days to go to with my non Burnley pals.

Re: Ouch
That’s not true about him not being as interested as his dad. King Power just don’t have the finance Leicester in the way they could before the pandemic which seriously damaged their business.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 8:14 amI can't see the Leicester owner funding a return to the Premiership, he's not as interested as his dad - at all?. I have a feeling Dyche may be in charge at Leicester at the beginning of next season.spt_claret wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 1:31 pmDefensive frailties amplified by losing Schmeichel, Vardy losing his touch and nobody sufficiently stepping up to replace him.

Re: Ouch
Championship will be great watching from the outside next season.
Leeds, Leicester, Saints down.
Ipswich, and possibly Sheff Wed coming up.
Boro possibly pushing on with Carrick.
West Brom, Norwich and Watford, who all need to do better, but have the potential to mix it.
And Rovers suffering 2nd season syndrome, after their nose bleed this year.

Weren't two of Boro's best players (Archer and Ramsey) both loans? If so, they'll need to replace them if they want to push on.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 1:54 pmChampionship will be great watching from the outside next season.

It was Top who convinced his dad to buy Leicester, it is in fact the other way around, the dad was not that interested and it was Top actually running the club.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 8:14 amI can't see the Leicester owner funding a return to the Premiership, he's not as interested as his dad - at all?.
