Booing one of our own - on the first game of the season - seems bizarre and completely unacceptable to me, since, as someone else implied, you would be effectively booing a management team who just won promotion in a most impressive way.

Not as 'unique' as the sort of person who'd boo him on the opening day of the season, they'd have to be very special indeed. If VK is prepared to and sees enough in him to warrant it, then I think 'we', at the very least give him chance to redeem himself.

While I wouldn't use an insult based on physical disability - not that I'm especially PC, but it's definitely off - I would say that people whose opinion about effectively a new signing is so anti that they would boo him as he comes onto the field, are in the wrong. If they boo a player, then they are booing the manager who picks him and the club he plays for. They aren't supporting the club.

Cretin, much the same as idiot is used in a completely different way today and can have no connection to it's original meaning. Like idiot, it has two meanings listed in the English dictionary.

If we are to choose our words based on archaic definitions then we may as well speak olde English.

There's plenty of offensive things posted on this website that are more severe than cretin, yet nothing is said of them.

He wasn't part of the team that won promotion so I don't see any correlation with that & I don't subscribe to the popular notion that if he features next season it's because VK wants him, if he features next season it'll be more down to nobody else wants to take him on loan or buy him so we are left with him.

There’ve been better players than Weghorst play for United over the last few years that have looked useless.

It's true, look at Di Maria and Sanchez. Some players just don't cope with the pressure.

It's much easier playing for us, the pressure just isn't the same. If you can be a star at Real Madrid or Arsenal and flop there you can certainly be a star at Wolfsburg and flop there.

I think you'll find that he's down at Wimbledon, has any one heard any rumours of him being sold to AFC, it seems like they fancy him.
