By & large we are talking about a unique situation here with what's gone on previously, the reason to boo wouldn't exist with any other player apart from WW.
So has he been found guilty of drinking driving? or some some other very serious crime? Please enlighten us.
Booing one of our own - on the first game of the season - seems bizarre and completely unacceptable to me, since, as someone else implied, you would be effectively booing a management team who just won promotion in a most impressive way.

Not as 'unique' as the sort of person who'd boo him on the opening day of the season, they'd have to be very special indeed. If VK is prepared to and sees enough in him to warrant it, then I think 'we', at the very least give him chance to redeem himself.

While I wouldn't use an insult based on physical disability - not that I'm especially PC, but it's definitely off - I would say that people whose opinion about effectively a new signing is so anti that they would boo him as he comes onto the field, are in the wrong. If they boo a player, then they are booing the manager who picks him and the club he plays for. They aren't supporting the club.
Cretin, much the same as idiot is used in a completely different way today and can have no connection to it's original meaning. Like idiot, it has two meanings listed in the English dictionary.
If we are to choose our words based on archaic definitions then we may as well speak olde English.
There's plenty of offensive things posted on this website that are more severe than cretin, yet nothing is said of them.

He wasn't part of the team that won promotion so I don't see any correlation with that & I don't subscribe to the popular notion that if he features next season it's because VK wants him, if he features next season it'll be more down to nobody else wants to take him on loan or buy him so we are left with him.

You're entitled to your opinion, but the idea that VK would select him if he didn't think he was up to it strikes me as highly unlikely.
The correlation is that we have to trust a successful management team to continue their excellent work. Booing on the opening day of the season seems a most inappropriate way of showing our appreciation.

I wonder how he will get on with Cork, Taylor, Roberts, Rodriguez, Gudmondsson and Brownhill, players who stayed and probably took wage cuts and who fought to get us promoted??

Going off we've got it wouldn't be out of the question, it doesn't necessarily mean he wants him more he's hamstrung with bringing another in because he can't offload him. Booing him is probably about how people feel about him & nobody else, it's not about anybody else I'd imagine, I find it quite bizarre how you are trying to drag other people in on that scenario in the event he is indeed booed. I don't think for 1 minute that VK or anybody else would be at least bothered if he was booed.

I can't imagine many Burnley fans being happy if he (as part of the team) were to be booed at the first match. Hopefully we won't find out.

Surely no fan would boo him, though they may display a measure of indifference.

Jakub seems to think they would / should, and it would be no problem, so maybe you should respond to him?

The result of him trying to head the ball. Is normally him taking the knee isn’t it?

Last time we booed a Burnley player was when Gifton came on as a sub. He went on to score a hat trick so it was clearly motivational to him. Maybe if we boo Wout he will respond in a likewise manner.

I haven't said anything of the sort, I've maintained if people want to express themselves by booing it's their choice to exercise that liberty, I haven't said I agree or approve of them actions, but it's none of my business what other people do it's my business what I do. Please stop twisting & distorting what's been stated.

Fair enough but, judging from responses I'm not the only poster who must have "misinterpreted" what you were saying.
Amongst your other comments this one (below) seems to suggest that you think booing him (and by inference VK's team selection) is fine:

There’ve been better players than Weghorst play for United over the last few years that have looked useless.
It's true, look at Di Maria and Sanchez. Some players just don't cope with the pressure.
It's much easier playing for us, the pressure just isn't the same. If you can be a star at Real Madrid or Arsenal and flop there you can certainly be a star at Wolfsburg and flop there.

I think you'll find that he's down at Wimbledon, has any one heard any rumours of him being sold to AFC, it seems like they fancy him.
I've no pictures but I'm overhearing the missus watching the tennis from there and you hear someone or other shouting for Weghorst every other minute, 1/4 an hour since the whole crowd joined in, it was wall to wall 'Wout - Wout - Wout!'

I didn’t realise “cretin” had any connection to disability by the way, so I’ve learnt something today and won’t be using that word again.
Apologies for any offence caused.
I didn’t know that either.
Interestingly (or not, ymmv) the word has its etymological roots in the word “Christian”.
