Huge changes at Shrewsbury. They set up a football board without telling those involved and last week pushed out the chief exec.

I’ve not been to Shrewsbury Town. Literally just drove by their ground - a very tidy looking, little ground.

It's a boring ground , the old gay meadow was much better and easier to get to.

And they still had the bloke fishing the balls out of the river in his coracle there, too. :D

Swans say that Martin's contract says that if he goes to a Premier League Club, it's £2m compensation, but a Championship Club only has to pay £1.25m. Saints are arguing that they're now a Championship Club ... on top of that, Martin wants to take some of his back-room staff, and they're negotiating on that ...

Anyone know when you cease to be a Premier League Club on relegation, is it 30th June, like players contracts tend to be, or is it one second after the referee's whistle confirms the drop ?

Southampton haven’t been a premier league team for most of 2023.

It was better but not easier to get to. These out of town modern ones are a bit soulless ( see Reading and Bolton).

Just read on the BBC that they had their highest finish (12th) in five years and SC has chosen to leave. Could be related to the Covid as you say though, maybe he's had issues since.

Their fans don't seem enamoured with their Chairman, Roland Wycherley ...

Last season was apparently their 8th in League 1, and finished 12th. Since 1990, they've had a spell in Non-League, and never managed to stay in League 1 longer than 3 seasons, before dropping down again until this current spell. It appears Cotterill had a good relationship with the recently departed CEO, who wanted the Club to progress. Wycherley criticised them for overbudget spending and they thought he lacked ambition. It may be significant that Wycherley named the main stand at the " New Meadow " after himself !! I mean, whoever heard of a Chairman doing such a thing ... oh, hang on a mo .. 8-)
