Club badge
Have I missed something here?
Not the normal badge for our club? Seems odd not to do ours with full colours when all the rest have?

i do like it to be fair but it just seemed at odds with rest of the visual unless that is going to be our new crest for next season?

Re: Club badge
I’m guessing the idea was not to accentuate our badge since the post was about our opponents next season… and we won’t be playing ourselves…?
Re: Club badge
Isn't it the badge from the traoning tops
Re: Club badge
It's definitely a deliberate choice to use that one rather than the version with colour. I much prefer the one we stopped using in 09 but the one with no colour looks better than the one with.

Re: Club badge
It could be that I guess? As Bosscat has said, its the monochrome badge from our training tops so perhaps it is just an alternative badge we have.

Re: Club badge
I would have thought the picture with 20 club badges and the giant PL logo, has been produced by the PL. Why they have used the single colour badge, or whether it was requested by the club, we don't know. The club tweet, if that's what it is, has the colour badge in the top left.

It must just be a design thing in our marketing that we now just don't use the full colour badge from time to time.

Re: Club badge
I don’t mind the “single colour” badge
It looks clean and the line colour can be changed to go on any background
The only thing I’d like to change is the removal of the surrounding shield and “contents” scaled up to that size

Re: Club badge
What's a normal badge for our club?
We've had about five (logos/badges) since I started supporting us, and we still don't use the best one.

Re: Club badge
I hated the one we had up til then. At least our current badge gives a nod to our 'heritage' and the 'One town, One club' mantra. I grew up with the County Borough's Arms on the shirt and, did I mention that I hated the artificial one brought in by ?Lee Hoos?

Re: Club badge
The badge has now changed on the ticket section of the website too
Again could be a design thing but its starting to see more of this badge than the colour one so perhaps its more purposeful and it is changing?

Re: Club badge
My take on it is that we should always use the official club badge which is the one with colour. Like it or not, that’s our club badge.

I noticed the monochrome logo on that same graphic, and it had me wondering.
I've never been a fan of the colours used on the current badge - the blues/yellows lack contrast.
However, whilst the monochrome version looks great on garments and in some graphic treatments - I don't think it is ideal for use as the primary device, like this.

Could it be that this is the new club badge because from a branding perspective?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 10:19 amMy take on it is that we should always use the official club badge which is the one with colour. Like it or not, that’s our club badge.
It's confusing for sure and I agree with you - as it stands the colour one is our badge as we know it.
However my gut feel that we are going to see the colour one disappear having spotted these things. Equally I could be wrong and this is just confirmation bias taking place.

Re: Club badge
I like the new iteration of the badge. It is cleaner and works better as a universal "artifact" to be applied to several uses, be it caps, shirts, websites, whatever.

Re: Club badge
I also like the mono badges. The coloured one is the wrong colour. The shield is turquoise with a lemon border, just wrong.

Totally agree with this, I think the white version will look better on digital assets and cleaner on merchandise.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 11:33 amI like the new iteration of the badge. But I wouldn’t describe it as a ‘new badge’, more a version of the existing one as the motif itself hasn’t changed, monochrome versions of it have been around for a while (all of Gawthorpe’s signage is monochrome, for example) and this white version has been on a lot of our clothing for a few seasons now. So, I’d still expect to see a lot of the existing.

Never liked the colours on the current badge - they look too washed out to me The monochrome version is a vast improvement and the claret version reflects the colour we are known for, and as.

Re: Club badge
I think it looks clean, smart and perhaps more modern - but it's a strange halfway alteration really.
If they were not keen on the 'old' badge due to it's colours they may have been better going with a wholesale modernisation ala Villa et al. We have done it many times in the past so it wouldn't have been something that we aren't used to or prepared to accept.

Re: Club badge
Another thought on this - will this change result in extensive work to be done to the various areas the badge can currently be seen around Turf Moor (i.e, the ones near the dugouts that are part of the technical areas, the ones built into the brickwork near the club shop etc - there is probably loads?).

Re: Club badge
Seems strange that the club would change the badge without any kind of communication/consultation with the fans.
Re: Club badge
That's what they did in 2009. That decision was for one season only, apparently.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 11:20 amSeems strange that the club would change the badge without any kind of communication/consultation with the fans.

There still looks to be 2 versions, even in monochrome
The one on the Club media has a single border
The one on the Permier League socials has a double border

Re: Club badge
Are we still commemorating those 50 years? Unless I'm mistaken, will gladly be told otherwise, it was supposed to be for one season only and yet here we are still with it - Latin replaced. There was no communication or consultation about that.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 11:26 amYes but we all knew why that was done as the club communicated it beforehand - to commemorate 50 years since winning the league wasn’t it?

Re: Club badge
That was only meant to be for that season to celebrate the 50th anniversary of 1st Division win.
They decided that as that badge was now recognised worldwide to continue with it (with the banner change)
Re: Club badge
Yeah, I've always felt it was sneaky and always been surprised that more people weren't bothered they changed a badge without any consultation etc. Bit like changing the kit to commemorate something which can happen, but then not changing it back, people wouldn't be happy.

Re: Club badge
We do seem to have changed the club badge a lot over the years, not sure how that compares to other clubs. Probably motivated to encourage supporters to buy even more gear in the club shop . As far as this design goes, it looks as if it is inspired by a minimalist theme in claret, which is OK as far as it goes, but i personally would have liked to also see some blue.

Burnley men is claret and silver
Burnley women is blue and silver
Burnley academy is black and silver
All on twitter, maybe it’s just a way of differentiating the 3 and when it comes down to official club details we still have the original badge
