Just noticed it claret and white on the official website now too
Re: Club badge
Sorry, I don’t like it.
It looks worse than its predecessor which also looked worse than its predecessor!

Re: Club badge
No one complained last season when all the training gear had the same badge. I personally think it’s looks modern and good time to rebrand going into premier league

Re: Club badge
On training tops, caps and other merchandise it works, but on graphics and as a ident of the club for me it doesn’t. Looks far to bland and corporate. Out former badges were colourful and had a uniqueness about them, this one is very sterile and I don’t think it gives off the right impression about Burnley, both the town and the club, unlike what we previously had. No reason the colour badge couldn’t stay for official purposes and the new badge just used on merchandise and when appropriate.

yeah I didn't mind the colour version, and then monochrome on selected bits
But this looks weird on its own
Is there a timeline anywhere to compare them all?

Re: Club badge
Interestingly under the proposals for of the Government white paper in regard to an Independent regulator official 'badge' changes, as this appears to be, can only be done following consultation and agreement with the fans.
Some may argue that it is the same badge, but is it? ours is built on heraldry of a form, and that has always employed colour

I'm still of the belief that they're just using the monochrome version of the 'main' badge for stylistic reasons on social media / merchandise.
The badge on the home shirt will be the thing that confirms/denies a change.

They have changed the badge on Social Media too (tiktok notwithstanding)- it is pretty darned official I would say
Did the Fan Advisory Board know about this (and indeed the membership scheme)? it wasn't reported in the output from their last meeting

PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 11:20 amSeems strange that the club would change the badge without any kind of communication/consultation with the fans.
Firstly, there should be consultation. But to answer Pickles, the badge was changed to the current one in 2010 and not 2009. The club badge in 2009/10 remained the previous one but the anniversary kits that season had the old County Borough of Burnley Coat of Arms, similar but with the Latin inscription. The decision to change the badge was made after that season - but you are right, no consultation then and none now if indeed they are changing it.

About the whole rebranding exercise that is going to be happening over the next few years? I think I’m on fairly safe ground when I say yes they did know! As to what can be said publicly though there will be some fairly large commercial and/or legal considerations which need considering which may/will prevent everything said there being reported at the time.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 2:29 pmDid the Fan Advisory Board know about this (and indeed the membership scheme)? it wasn't reported in the output from their last meeting

I heard they've removed a full section of seats in the Longside Lower stand to make way for a giant artwork model of the new chromosome badge that will be built in the seats place.
Not sure how much it will reduce the capacity if true but it sounds like a novel idea that could work really well so fair play to Mr Pace

Nothing official - though that is part of the mandate - and is supposed to be coming with the next series of meetings and then there have been things like this from the individual members the link being to the Chairman of the Clarets Trust, who is one of three No Nay Never representatives on the FAB
https://claretstrust.co.uk/2023/05/22/e ... -chairman/
another FAB member who is also a member of the London Clarets also had a piece in the current issue of 'Something to write home about'

I suspect there was a conversation either before or shortly after our new proprietors took over along the lines of, " Do you mean to tell me that we do not own the trademark/copyright and licensing rights to our own Club Badge/Emblem ? " The Club will not have rights to the Town Crest nor the former Borough version.
The answer they received is why we are seeing these changes ...

Re: Club badge
A monocrhome version of the badge isn't a bad idea at all, for various reasons, most of which have been outlined.
Its just that this version looks cheap and nasty.
If we wanted something that stood out and was monochrome - why not use the old version that is on VK's now famous cap?

Re: Club badge
We do have rights to it, that was probably the main reason for making the changes to it. I was told that we didn’t have the rights to the previous one because we’d allowed the licence to lapse.Clarets4me wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 6:37 pmI suspect there was a conversation either before or shortly after our new proprietors took over along the lines of, " Do you mean to tell me that we do not own the trademark/copyright and licensing rights to our own Club Badge/Emblem ? I couldn't find our badge for a little while on their twitter posts.
It doesn't stand out, it isn't particular memorable.
We have some lovely colours associated to our club and we produce that?

Re: Club badge
I'm not the biggest fan of the current badge, but for me the pre-2009 badge was awful. I don't mind the monochrome one being used in tandem with the full colour one for stylistic purposes but not as a replacement.
Re: Club badge
Me too. Wasn't perfect but knocks the socks off anything we've had since. And considering you can get stuff with the BFC badge, I think it's strange you can't get anything in the club shop with it on (other than Score Draw replica shirts and I think a pair of swimming shorts)

I liked the 'old' one (70s to 2009), but looking at the current PL badges of other teams, I think it would look a bit anachronistic.Pickles wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 12:25 pmMe too. I get why they used the current badge longer than the one of season, but it's probably time for an overhaul to bring it up to date. Something different to the current one.

Also standing out can be a positive - no one wants to be a poor imitation of somebody else or just following trends

I agree. I'd like to see a questionnaire for supporters, asking what we consider to be the most iconic, symbolic parts of a Burnley FC badge.ChrisG wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 12:52 pmI liked the 'old' one (70s to 2009), but looking at the current PL badges of other teams, I think it would look a bit anachronistic.

Cotton spindle, red rose, 1882, bee(s), upside down V... etc etc.
And then that information used to make a new one, with more than a nod to what's been before.

Monochrome boring corporate bland world
I’m actually really cheesed off about this - it is beyond terrible.
Wrexham (media’s love/golden child) seem to be marketing extremely well with their old school unique crest - so should we be able to!

Dreadful… we’ll make the club current, exciting and progressive while staying true to our history; by adopting a soulless monochrome badge that could brand any business letterhead, insurance firm of delivery van without anyone battling an eyelid.
Extremely disappointing.

That's it Elwa.
There are badges and logos for notepaper end documents and there are the full dress version for the real world.
This is very wrong.

Can someone email Alan with a link to this thread, i dont believe he knows the bad feeling the 2010 rebrand is causing and has caused.
There was no need to change it from the classic version we had before 2010 and i doubt he even knows about the old crest.
They should do a poll on what people prefer with all the options on it.

Re: Club badge
you are looking at it from an emotional point of view (which I fully understand, I have the badge hanging from one of my walls at home and love it), I was talking about the relevance it has to us on the pitch this season (which unless you are a mind reader you wouldn't have got!), I'll take a naff badge and a guy who can score 20 goals for us this season over a superb badge and a player who can't so to speak. I hope that makes sense

I think if people bombarded Pace with emails about it it might get changed back, as it stands he probably doesn't know we even had that badge when he came in, he obviously doesnt like the way the current one looked as he or his team have changed it to monochrome.Pickles wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 11:31 amYeah, I've always felt it was sneaky and always been surprised that more people weren't bothered they changed a badge without any consultation etc. Bit like changing the kit to commemorate something which can happen, but then not changing it back, people wouldn't be happy.
