Re: Sam Allardyce gone at Leeds
Hopefully no other PL or Championship club will be tempted to employ him in the future. A brilliant manager as he rose to fame and his times at Bolton and West Ham will be long remembered by their fans but have to say it "a wage stealer now", as he has lost touch with the modern game and tactics, and needs to accept it

Re: Sam Allardyce gone at Leeds
That’s disappointing…. Was hoping they’d give him a five year contract.

Re: Sam Allardyce gone at Leeds
Wouldn't surprise me if they went for Brendan Rodgers to get is career back on track.

Good shout that- Rodgers.Clive 1960 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 10:53 amWouldn't surprise me if they went for Brendan Rodgers to get is career back on track.
Regarding SA the players just didn’t turn up for him, some of them anyway. I get it’s up to him to get them playing and motivated but some of them were a lost cause, imo of course.

Any manager who keeps them down, or even relegates them again, would be a huge success in my book.

Re: Sam Allardyce gone at Leeds
Some Leeds fans I work with are saying that they want to tempt VK from Burnley. They can't understand why he wouldn't want to leave us to go to a club the size of Leeds!!!!!!!

It's not about the size , it's about knowing how to use it.Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 11:02 amSome Leeds fans I work with are saying that they want to tempt VK from Burnley. They can't understand why he wouldn't want to leave us to go to a club the size of Leeds!!!!!!!

To be fair to the big lump, he explained the next day that the whole idea was to have everyone talking about him, rather than his playersHerts Clarets wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 11:10 amNo one is ahead of me in football. Not Pep, not Klopp, not Arteta....

Still really stupid. He then decided to throw his players under a bus anyway to absolve himself of blame.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 11:24 amTo be fair to the big lump, he explained the next day that the whole idea was to have everyone talking about him, rather than his players

Re: Sam Allardyce gone at Leeds
I think the players threw themselves under a bus by being consistently crap all season, he was just more honest than Jesse marsch & Gracia about it & had nothing to lose by speaking his mind the game was up at that point.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 8:33 amStill really stupid. Re: Sam Allardyce gone at Leeds
He wasn’t ‘speaking his mind’ he was laying the blame on somebody other than himself. He criticised the team days before a crucial, must win game - if you think that’s conducive to a strong squad mentality then, not for the first time nor I fear the last, I don’t agree with you.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 8:38 amI think the players threw themselves under a bus by being consistently crap all season, he was just more honest than Jesse marsch & Gracia about it & had nothing to lose by speaking his mind the game was up at that point.

Speak to players who have played for him and they'll tell you he's the best he's played for in terms of man management.

I read an article recently that said he was the first manager to introduce analytics and the study of player data into top flight English football when managing Bolton. Now widely accepted and applauded at all clubs including Burnley.

Allardyce is an excellent manager, so I'm glad he's left Leeds.

Re: Sam Allardyce gone at Leeds
That was designed for the players to prove him wrong it was a gamble that didn't pay off, the players weren't good enough at the end of day hence relegation it was nobody's fault.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 9:35 amHe wasn’t ‘speaking his mind’ he was laying the blame on somebody other than himself. Re: Sam Allardyce gone at Leeds
I think it's fairly common knowledge that he was a pioneer for such data analytics. Shame that the data said "lump it to Kevin Davies".kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 9:49 amI read an article recently that said he was the first manager to introduce analytics and the study of player data into top flight English football when managing Bolton. Re: Sam Allardyce gone at Leeds
Like the players hadn’t been utter garbage for 2 full seasons ( well 1.7 ish) BFS was brought in as an experienced head to hold the wheel and nothing more . 4 games with the first being City and then Newcastle was an almost impossible situation.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 8:33 amStill really stupid. Re: Sam Allardyce gone at Leeds
A desperate attempt by the Leeds owners to somehow stay up, if Everton had of appointed him instead of Dyche they would also have stayed up, likewise with just 4 games left if Leeds appointed Dyche they'd have still been relegated, needed to be in at Christmas.
Oh well
Oh well

Big Sam does gets some bad press regarding his style despite being an innovative manager at one time. Just like Guardiola has done, he certainly changed the way clubs operated.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 9:49 amI read an article recently that said he was the first manager to introduce analytics and the study of player data into top flight English football when managing Bolton.
