I know you mentioned that they were coming back earlier before another break, but it definitely caught me by surprise to see the article on the official site informing us that they were back in. It only seems two minutes ago since the Cardiff game.

Not sure why people are shocked, we asked for Foster to be omitted from the recent SA squad so he could.be with the club for this

They are off to Portugal later this week for ten days, then another ten days off before the proper pre-season gets underway.

Good to get the lads together again & most likely top up on fitness + bonding. Hopefully will have one or two new faves by the time we start proper.

Not sure what the 10 days inbetween serves though. Presumably a lot of fitness can me lost in that time but presumably some science behind it.

VK had said that because of the long break this summer he doesn't want them to go stale.
So a pre season, followed by a holiday, followed by a second pre season.

Also to ensure the squad is all at the same / similar fitness levels. A large portion are away with international teams in the coming 2 weeks so if we didn’t do this pre pre season they would be ahead of the lads who weren’t going away fitness wise.

Noticed on a few articles recently it’s been called the “Burnley Training Centre”

Have they dropped Barnfield from it?

Will last seasons loan players be with the squad in Portugal? Could be useful in case we manage to make some pemanent or renew.

Last season's loan players are now back with their clubs and are subject to their planning. We wouldn't have them here now anyhow, in case we don't sign them on!

Yep, can’t see that. Although if they were contracted to us until 30th June presumably nothing stopping us. Not sure when loans would end.

Only the non internationals.
Foster is there because VK has a agreement that he can stay with us now but will be released in Jan/Feb

As mentioned, most internationals will not be joining (a couple for a day or two) and it’s partly why VK has got the rest in now.

Barnfield transferred their sponsorship from Gawthorpe to the cricket field stand. I think that’s two years ago now. Why on earth they won’t call it Gawthorpe I don’t know.

Shock Darren bent and Jamie o’hara two talksport ‘pundits’ commenting on us being back in training without understanding kompanys reasons and the fact that the players are getting another 2 weeks off after this mini camp.
‘It’s too early the seasons only just finished’ our season finished 8th May and really if you think about it our season was sorted on Good Friday

Yep, a lot of experts on there spouting their ill-informed views. 'Burnt out by January' was a popular one and another classic was 'if it's a good idea then why don't the big clubs do it'? No need for innovation just follow those with the most money.

I’ve been surprised that anyone has been surprised given we all knew this was happening. I don’t know whether it’s a good idea or not but I do know that VK will know a lot better than me. This is the longest close season I can remember so I don’t see any harm in breaking it up with this trip.

Thats the typical mentality of someone that’s not aware of what happens outside the Premier League

Don’t realise that our games finished 4 weeks ago
