Al-Dakhil

Post by RVclaret » Tue Jun 06, 2023 3:09 pm

Called up to the Belgian senior team for the 1st time.

Well done to him and what a talent we’ve got there.

He's there on merit, he's been brilliant. I wonder though if this is a call up a little earlier to get him locked in with Belgium, eligible for Iraq too.

There was a Belgian scout watching him at the Cardiff game. He was also hoping to see Manuel Benson.

I’ve been hugely impressed with him in the games he’s played for us so far. Hard to believe he’s just three months past his 21st birthday. He’s got some future ahead of him.

Brilliant to see him get a call up.

Echo all the above comments. He's slotted in and turned in some excellent performances more or less, from the off.

I think both Ameen Al-Dakhil and Jordan Beyer have a great future ahead of them. I was worried when Beyer and THB were both out in early Spring only for us to wheel in Al-Dakhil and Ekdal who were equally impressive.

Who amongst us thought we would never see a centre back pairing as good as Ben Mee and Tarks in a Burnley shirt again? I think we have 3 who will dispel that fear in the coming season, as i am sure they will handle the step up.

Never heard of him before he signed, only 21, amazing talent imo.

Remember just after he signed he was 'warming up' just in front of us at the Turf although he wasn't playing in the game. Looked a little lost but all that has changed now. An absolute meteoric rise for him and thoroughly well deserved.

It's beyond amazing just how strong we are in the CB department having lost players as good as Tarks, Mee and Collins in the summer.

The fact that we haven't missed them is unbelievable. And we've been strong enough there that we were able to allow McNally to go out on loan.

There simply aren't words that do justice to recruitment as good as that. Well done Burnley.

If we were to play 3 at the back, then there's absolutely no way would Kompany play Charlie Taylor in a left "wing back" role. I think his team selections last season confirmed this. He would see him as a left -sided centre back.
(I doubt he'd play 3 centre backs any way).
Also Brownhill would get into that team.

It might not be his first choice system but I'm sure there will be a time when he does play 3 centre backs. He has seen how well City have played 3 and sometimes 4 centre backs and when his hand is forced I'm sure he will play 3 at the back.

Also appreciate the balance that team has with lefties Taylor and JBG on the left and right footed Robert's and Cullen occupying the other side, then bang you've got your wide boys cutting in with options and support from your overlappers.

It's not real BTW.

The fact that we didn’t miss Tarks and Mee is that we were playing in a lesser division. Not trying to rubbish your post however, those three centre backs had a great season.

We could almost do a Pep and go with four centre halves on the pitch (if we were to go complete Pep we'd be sticking a centre half in the inverted fullback position that Roberts occupies), so we could be City-lite and line up like this (like your line up but with a slightly different shape)

........................................Muric...........................
............Al-Dakhil..............Beyer...............Ekdal.........
............(Another big CB, or Roberts)....Cullen................
Benson............Twine...................JBG.............Zaroury
..............................Jay/Foster................................

Let's get centre-half CJER in that John Stones inverted fullback role just so we can do a City for real.

If we hypothetically assume we can't sign Maatsen (€20m talked about) or anyone as good as him, I actually think that ^^^ line up would be better than going 4141/433 with Vitinho or Taylor in the LB role.

However one chooses to deploy the individual pieces, this shows that evem before any new permanent or loan signings are added, we're already at a better starting point than we we're when we kicked-off our last Premiership challenge.

Fully agreed-I think some people have got into a false sense of security this season with our consistent results. This team would get spanked regularly in the Prem in my opinion

It's the 16th of June and we are being linked/making bids for about 50 players each day seemingly so I would suggest it is largely pointless analysing how an eleven comprised of current players would fare.

On the subject of Al-Dakhil, he is a fabulous player and has so much potential. I think we should be starting with him and Beyer next season personally, he just moved ahead of Ekdal for me in his appearances towards the end of the season.

He didn’t have much to do tbh. Looked quick & was confident on the ball. Don’t recall him giving it away

Tresor was on the left. Didn’t really have time to make an impact but did create a few chances. Do recall he lost the ball then conceded a free kick when trying to win it back

He played left of Faes, which I Think is a first since he signed for us, looked as though he’d been there for a long time. Good to have it in his bag.
Tresor looked comfortable on the ball and played a couple of tidy passes but 10mins, when Austria were running the clock, is not enough to judge either of them.
