Won a trophy. Lost in that they showed us all what their supporters really are. Should have been played in a ground where the players and pitch are half a mile from the supporters, like Wembley, or gateshead.

Would love us to win any cup.
Been 109 years hasn’t it, unless we’re counting the Charity Shield?

Re: Fiorentina v Hammers
Yeah, fair enough. Just seems a bit second rate to me and they’re going a bit OTT.
Any club that finishes 7th in the Premier League should be winning this new competition of second rate Euro teams every season from now on IMO, given the wealth they have.

It’s the equivalent of the Cup Winners Cup and that always seemed like a good cup to win when I was a kid.

This is a third tier European trophy. I don’t consider it a major trophy at all

Can't imagine anyone calling this tin pot would think that if we'd just won it.
Without the luxury of a State backing, it's just about possible for us.

Re: Fiorentina v Hammers
I don’t have any memory of the Anglo-Scottish. Sounds a bit like the Simod Cup or the Inter-Toto, which seemed second rate at the time.
Re: Fiorentina v Hammers
I presume this is the competition we'd have entered when we finished 7th, rather than the qualifying stages of the Europa League?

Re: Fiorentina v Hammers
Of course it’s a major trophy. And the Europa League replaced the UEFA Cup, not the Cup Winners Cup.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 10:15 pmIt’s not though is it - that’s Europa League

Re: Fiorentina v Hammers
But there were 3 European trophies and the Cup Winners seemed to sit behind the European Cup & UEFA Cup. They were all good trophies to win, so even if this is the new “third best” European trophy, it’s still a good accolade.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 10:15 pmIt’s not though is it - that’s Europa League

I'm not sure but wouldn't have mattered anyway, Dyche wanted us out of it as soon as we'd qualified. A real shame. I'd absolutely love us to qualify again.

Re: Fiorentina v Hammers
Nothing second rate about the trophy
Re: Fiorentina v Hammers
It’s a European trophy. Major or not who cares. Brilliant competition and one of the best things UEFA has done in recent times.
Re: Fiorentina v Hammers
Felt like it. Not blaming him totally. Squad probably wasn't big enough. It's just a real shame.
