York B&B or hotel

Post by No Ney Never » Fri Jun 09, 2023 9:17 pm

Last time we stayed in a B&B up towards the racecourse, really nice but can't remember the name of it.
We're going later this month for a day in York, stay over, designer outlet the following day.
Any recommendations for accommodation? Preferably with parking, electric vehicle charging would be a bonus. Must include breakfast otherwise there's no point staying over 😀

That would probably be Fulford.

Stayed at Hotel Du Vin a few times and it’s never disappointed.

learn how to use google maps properly. it's great for finding restaurants or hotels.

chuck your dates in, a few filters - it's better than trivago or the like

The Holgate Bridge B&B is excellent both quality wise and location. Near the station and actually on the A59.
Straight through from Clitheroe/Colne on the same road.
Plenty of parking and a short stroll into the city.

Not stayed over for a while, so I'm no help here.

My advice is go during the week if you can, unless you don't mind sharing the place with hen and stag parties who are ****** and coked-up by mid-afternoon after starting out as soon as the pubs opened.York is a city of eminence history and architecture relfecting the ages, but it really could do without being turned into a sea of sick Blackpool at weekends.

The Plough Inn in Fulford is nice. Good breakfast too. You can walk in to York from there or just get on a short bus ride.
Easy parking and avoids driving in to the city centre.

Near the Holgate Bridge mentioned above is Bishops B & B, award winning. Owned and actively run by one Marco Gabbiadini, who will be remembered by the older fans on here. He and his wife both from York originally so can give good advice on where to go etc.

He used to live a couple of doors down from a girlfriend I was seeing, Whitehouse Gardens, York. I'll check it out online, thanks for the tip.
