Wouldn't seem a natural fit to me in terms of style of play.

Re: Duff to Swansea ?
Agreed, I think the link in the article with Steven Schumacher at Plymouth is a more natural fit for Swansea.welsbyswife wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 5:12 pmWouldn't seem a natural fit to me in terms of style of play.
Re: Duff to Swansea ?
So Swansea get Mike Duff AND compensation for the outgoing Martin?
Good business that.

SSN just reported that Martin deal to Southampton should be completed by end of the week with Swansea in advanced talks to appoint Duff.

Shame for Barnsley, they seem to have no trouble finding good managers and some top players.. just can’t keep them.

Re: Duff to Swansea ?
Unfortunately for them they are in a market closely surrounded by 3 big teams, the 2 Sheffields and Leeds. Accy have the same problem but slightly worse as their bigger teams are all VERY close, Man Utd, The Stablemen and us and they are a smaller town.NottsClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 1:43 pmShame for Barnsley, they seem to have no trouble finding good managers and some top players.. just can’t keep them.

Re: Duff to Swansea ?
Wonder if this will mean darren moore to Barnsley as an ex player would be a popular appointment as sheff Wednesday have just potted him

Re: Duff to Swansea ?
Being reported in S Wales that Duff has a £500,000 release clause in his contract at Barnsley. That's a bit more than we paid for him.

Re: Duff to Swansea ?
Good luck Duffer, continuing to make good progress up the leagues.
Shame about the playoff farce though, would of been good to get a promotion on the CV.

Good luck to him. Shame he didn’t get Barnsley up though.

Re: Duff to Swansea
I can see him doing well at Swansea, I remember the players used to laugh at him for his lack of ‘flash’ (think he was driving a Fiesta, if memory serves), but it’s that levelheadedness that has helped him pick the bits he wants out of some top notch managers and put together his model. Chuffed for him.

Re: Duff to Swansea ?
Looks a solid appointment by Swansea. Duff is clearly a very competent manager who has done extremely well in his two posts so far.
Be interesting to see if he adapts his more pragmatic style to a more possession-based style now he's at Swansea. Their chairman has already made reference to him fitting into the 'Swansea way'.

Re: Duff to Swansea ?
Going off the home match vs Swansea, the "Swansea Way " seemed to be passing the ball a lot and then getting hammered. Duff will soon put a stop to that.

What price loyalty, or was he made an offer he couldn't refuse?

Barnsley fans don't seem to happy with him.
Re: Duff to Swansea ?
I know they didn’t have the most amazing campaign, but Swansea away was one of my most anxious games this season. Whenever they went on the attack I felt they were going to score. Obviously, they didn’t-ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 10:06 pmGoing off the home match vs Swansea, the "Swansea Way " seemed to be passing the ball a lot and then getting hammered. there lies the issue- but feel that their strategy needs very little refinement for them to make a real stab at it this year.

Re: Duff to Swansea ?
He owes them nothing. Improved them as a club, now has a chance at a club in a league higher up, with better resources and players. Of course he’s going to take it.
Re: Duff to Swansea ?
Some of them seem to think his dream job is Burnley and he will be off if Kompany leaves and he is offered the job.
