Marco Silva
Al-Ahli have made Marco Silva a £40M offer to become their new manager on a two-year deal.
His representatives are in London to hold talks with Saudi officials.
The Fulham head coach has a £6m release clause, with one-year left on his deal.
It will be interesting to see if he goes, it could really destabilize Fulham especially if Mitrovic follows as expected

Re: Marco Silva
Fulham in heaps of trouble with Mitrovic refusing to ever play for them again and their other best player (Palhinha) wanting to go to West Ham. Could be a cheeky surprise for a relegation if those two and Silva leave.

Probably got his bags packed already but for that amount of money who’d blame himclaretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2023 3:28 pmThe way he pimped himself out to Everton says he goes
Re: Marco Silva
Al-Hilal want him and have made two offers but Fulham want £52m. He says they are pricing him out of a move. They are being a bit unfair with him really after he stuck with them when they kept getting relegated. He had offers but stayed.

Re: Marco Silva
Silva said recently that he wasn't prepared to talk about extending his contract given the current situation at Fulham although I'm not sure what he meant by that.
Re: Marco Silva
Football could be in heaps of trouble if the Saudis keep buying up the top players and managers. They managed to split the golf world for a short period, maybe they've turned their attention to football now. Money talks more than ever these days.jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2023 3:28 pmFulham in heaps of trouble with Mitrovic refusing to ever play for them again and their other best player (Palhinha) wanting to go to West Ham. Re: Marco Silva
Spent 4 months in Saudi and never want to go back! I remember China doing the same thing and it fell away pretty quickly. Not sure Saudi will go away anytime soon though. Some absolutely ridiculous money being thrown about so you can’t blame those who want to go.

Re: Marco Silva
not sure what contracts clubs have with the Premier League ? is it a 10 year, 20 year contract ? as a lot of powerful clubs are now owned by investors and obviously they want their club (investment) to play where the most money is.........................and thats no longer the uk.
Re: Marco Silva
If the Saudi league snap up a load of top EPL players,it will make the league more competitive as far as BFC are concerned,so i for one aint bothered. Its not as though they will come a knocking for too many of our players....yet

Re: Marco Silva
I can see the Saudis and other Arab states lobbying to join UEFA, or joining a breakaway league.
Re: Marco Silva
That's a good point. We aren't shopping in the kind of market that the Saudis are, which is that of megastars and other fairly well known matinees with a global reputation, who can make the league more attractive to passive tourists. If a Saudi team had a choice between a lesser known but highly talented young player at a lower price, and a more famous but inferior player at the end of their career at a higher price, they'd buy the famous player over the talented prospect one hundred times out of one hundred, because the league is not concerned with sport as much as it is concerned with projecting itself as a tourist attraction, and that requires familiar names to act as attractions, not raw talent. If we ever get to the point where a player becomes somewhat globally famous while at Burnley, our model is to SELL SELL SELL and reinvest. Stasis relegated us last time, we can't let it happen again.
Re: Marco Silva
The main effect of the Saudi league's project is how it creates inflationary pressures in the transfer market, but given they are mainly interested in near-retirees, it's difficult to see exactly how or to what extent their spending sprees are impacting our corner of the market. I don't think it's affecting it that much. What we paid for Amdouni (and Trafford if it happens) seems about right considering the profile of both players.
Re: Marco Silva
By the way, Tony Khan's (Shahid's son, and Fulham vice-chairman and director of football operations) response to a question about this is a GOAT answer to any question ever asked in football.

Re: Marco Silva
he's rejected the Saudi's and is staying at Fulham, they've also just signed Raul Jiminez from Wolves (you would guess that allows Mitrovic to go)
