OT Will Hay
Searching youtube a few nights ago and I came across one of his films 'oh mr porter'. I remember watching it with my Dad as a kid but I had never really heard of him before. So I started searching his films and he has had me laughing away all week. Anyone else recommend any old bw movies from years gone by (not necessarily Will Hays) that are worth a watch?

Alistair Sim, An Inspector Calls, Black n White, but great film, watched it at least 4 times, and a twist at the end.

Oddly enough, I started watching a Norman Wisdom fillm the other day. In a totally crazy world, I find a certain reassurance in watching old films. I was too young to see his films at the cinema but they were always on the TV back in the seventies.

Early St Trinians films, true classics.
Re: OT Will Hay
Moore Marriot was great in them Will Hay films.
I recommend 'The Ghost Goes West' (1935) starring Robert Donat, a proper cheese and toaster.

She'll have to go - Bob Monkhouse, Hattie Jacques, Alfred Marks and the delightful Anna Karina.

I collect British black & white films from the 1930s through to the 1960s and must have over 700. Off the top of my head 5 I would recommend are Jigsaw; Seven Keys; Saloon Bar, Smokescreen & Don't Talk To Strange Men, but they are just 5 of the many I enjoy watching.

Just put Talking Pictures on.
Have to agree with Hipper on Hobson’s Choice. Superb from minute 1.
Laurel & Hardy, outstanding.

Thanks @BurnleyMickSouth for reminding me about Alistair Sim in "An Inspector Calls". An hour of pleasure with a twist.

Re: OT Will Hay
No "The Ghost Train" was a stage play adapted into a film ... funnily enough written by Arthur Ridley who played Pvt Godfrey in "Dads Army"

Dead of Night (1945)
Night of the Hunter (1955) Charles Laughton's only film as a director as it was panned by critics at the time. So the next thing he did after Hobson's Choice mentioned above (in which he played Hobson).

Robb Wilton is another old character who must have shifted his music hall act to film.
