Re: Everton match thread
For what it is worth I think we have looked far better in possession than Brentford and Bournemouth, but it is all relative. Still some really very poor play, particularly at the back. We just do not have the players. The damage was done in the summer plus a certain amount of bad luck with injuries.

Vitinho is not premier league class. I was astounded at his new deal.

Al-Dakhil barely played.
Ok Bobby Thomas was a bit tongue in cheek.. McNally was class last season under a good manager
I also didn’t think O’Shea was one of the best.

Didn't want to log on just to post a moan, but honestly what's the chuffing point in bringing Roberts and Cork on now?

Cullen looks shot, so he replaces Berge... Hmmm
Re: Everton match thread
Getting them match fit for Sat
Masterstroke from the management
Plus, don't they get appearance bonus
Remember Stan always used to bring Jeppo on in the last 5 mins for his bonuses

Re: Everton match thread
It's just so boring to watch. Pass to midfield, pass it back, lay it off the full back, pass back to centre back again and repeat. We're keeping the ball (or trying) to keep it of keeping it's sake. We're not trying to pull the opposition out of position, or create space to run into, it's just so slow and cumbersome

Re: Everton match thread
If you read this thread it’s the usual posters slamming the team. The fact this is probably the best progression play we have done all season, it’s not good enough because we are not Real Madrid.

While I agree the usual suspects are tiresome, we’ve had two shots of any note all game.
Re: Everton match thread
Tightening up at the back. Going for a morale booster by only letting the 2 goals in.

I’ve been crying out for Cork to be starting - but with this game done, why are we bringing him on and not Massengo?

Re: Everton match thread
I’m personally not seeing anything to be positive about at the moment I’m sorry to say. I certainly take no pleasure in saying that, but you simply can’t polish a turd!! No energy, lifeless, devoid of ideas and utterly awful in defence are all basics that we are way off getting right at the moment.
I remain hopeful for a turnaround in form and fortunes this Saturday, but only if we have the likes of Beyer and Foster back.

Re: Everton match thread
If this, a kompany side, with it's so called attacking prowess, can't muster a shot on target then we really are shite.

Really puts into perspective everyone saying Dycheball was always boring.ClaretFelix wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 9:27 pmIt's just so boring to watch. 6 years in the Prem? Boring.
5 England internationals? Boring.
European qualification? Boring.
There's plenty more goals now. Shame they're at the wrong end.
Re: Everton match thread
There's nothing they will get from ten minutes of this game of walking football that they couldn't get from doing laps around a training pitch. You don't get match fit by playing for ten minutes. Ten minutes might help you shake off a hangover but that's about it. Let Massengo kick a ball.

Re: Everton match thread
This is honestly more worrying than people think.
If we go down with a whimper, then there will have to be a firesale. That would mean kompany (if he's still here) having to build a team from scratch but with less money.

Re: Everton match thread
Piddling in the wind there Al. Progression is useless if we can't must a single shot on target. Yes, we have looked better, but that's partly because Everton have resorted to just holding their shape and letting us make our own mistakes. We haven't looked remotely threatening.

I mentioned Kompany’s ego earlier this year (got some flack, naturally). Haven’t seen anything to correct this position.

Thought we looked very reasonable in the first half, but have reverted to type in the center back.
I’m no longer surprised with the passiveness/lack of aggression from this iteration of VK’s side. Just a team of nice boys that don’t like tackling or being tackled.

I don’t think Kompany’s got long left. Pace shocked everyone when he potted Dyche, so he’s proved he won’t hang around.

Re: Everton match thread
We've had better possession play in our own half, because we've picked our cup keeper.
At the other end we've done nothing. We scored against Bournemouth, how is 0 shots better than a goal?

Had someone slipped some horse tranquilliser in their half time brews?
Re: Everton match thread
The problem we have is this is all we have to play with, our recruitment has been inept and I cannot recall this much money wasted on such sub standard players in my numerous decades watching us. Not sure changing managers would do any good, Pep, Klopp, Howe couldn't make our recruits taller, stronger, more aggressive, better etc. We are well and truly fooked.

There isn’t going to be a fire sale because if we end the season like we’ve started there is literally no one coming out of this with credit in the bank.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 9:31 pmThis is honestly more worrying than people think.

I'm not so sure about that. Many of our squad have clearly been bought for the future, I'm sure we'll hold on to them.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 9:31 pmThis is honestly more worrying than people think.
