Male Incontinence
I was just reading this article about 1 in 8 men suffering from prostate cancer with a significant proportion of them suffering incontinence.
With the BK Foundation and the high number of blokes at an age where this could be a consideration, I’m surprised that we don’t see bins in the men’s loos. If the stats are right this will effect a large proportion of fans

Re: Male Incontinence
Well done for highlighting it Penwortham, let’s hope something’s done about it. I have to admit that whenever we go out I try and plan where I’ll be able to stop/ call for a wee, as I’ve become older I seem to want to go more and more, sometimes several times within a short time, through the nights not good either. I’m sure there’s lots of men in this situation, the main thing is to make sure we get regular check ups. I’m another to praise BK for the work he’s done in helping men to get those check ups. But going back to your point there should be male bins in every toilet.

Re: Male Incontinence
I was out of bed 5 times overnight, a new personal worst.
Thankfully I don’t suffer from incontinence and feel for those that do.

Re: Male Incontinence
I’ve been having the night calls for some years now, mainly I believe because of my diabetes. What I find now also is I get much less notice when I need to go.beddie wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 7:54 amWell done for highlighting it Penwortham, let’s hope something’s done about it. Re: Male Incontinence
Many people experiencing High Blood Pressure are often prescribed diuretic tablets as part of their medication that can obviously make the need to urinate more frequently more acute.
At least most public toilets have been reopened following the pandemic. During periods of lockdown it was very difficult to plan an outing even for shopping, with toilet facilities closed at train stations and in shopping centres.

Re: Male Incontinence
I have been taking a “water tablet” for many years now as part of my type 2 Diabetes.
With losing a lot of weight in last 12 months 13 lbs and down to 13 stone my sugar reading has dropped to 41 .
I have eaten smaller portions and lots of walking to achieve the weight loss
However I can get up 3 times in the night for a pee occasionally and sometimes just once as this water tablet works amazingly well and depending how much water/ tea I drink in the day and evening
So when I am out walking I always make sure I am close to a public loo.
I am 79 now and will need to be more careful , I would imagine , in the new year.
Well done Barry Kilby for raising this important matter

Re: Male Incontinence
Problem is men don't do hoping to the doctor and getting help very well, especially with things deemed embarrassing. The NHS have recognised this .
Re: Male Incontinence
On average I wake up 3-6 times a night needing a wee. It’s more of an anxiety pee than a full bladder. I struggle to sleep if I’m not totally void. I’ve got used to it but it’s tiring at times. Alcohol makes it worse as you can imagine.
Nothing to be ashamed of. Neither is urinary or faecal incontinence. Trust me I’m a nurse. The vast majority of people over a certain age (younger than you think) wear a pad ‘just in case’.
Should be no stigma attached, it’s really common

Re: Male Incontinence
It would be really nice if our club were trailblazers with this and provided disposal facilities for those wearing pads on match day particularly with the link to Barry Kilby
Re: Male Incontinence
It seems a few on this thread need a prostate check and or procedure, it’s painful but so rewarding
Re: Male Incontinence
Well done guys, the more health related things like this are talked about (on the women's side as well) the more normal it becomes and people feel less embarrassed and more able to talk. There is no reason to be ashamed. There is every reason to be checked out if you have worries, see a doctor or get a test done.
I like the idea of trailblazing helping with this issue.
