Much more like it. Best performance in a Burnley shirt and getting better every game and learning what it’s like to be a Burnley player now.

Well done lad.

The pass for Larsenns goal was exquisite but his final 3 passes before he was hooked were worse than schoolboy level. Overall he’s been a good addition.

Getting better every game is a much better description.

A couple of stray passes today but what a great ball for Bruun Larsens goal.

The actual game where all the team played well but I'm still able to spot when a player can't pass the ball consistently to a teammate. You obviously aren't. Have a good evening.

Christ tonight’s not the night to bicker about our players.

He played well today so just give him kudos - he’s not a bad lad is he? Non of them are tossers like McBurnie types so tonight at least we can say - “Dara O’Shea played well today”

Enjoy it - we all deserve to properly enjoy that win.

Today's game and opposition suited O'Shea and I thought he was excellent. Sheffield were very aerial and he was tremendous in the air and won everything, which IMO led to Mc'Burnie losing his rag. He was less convincing passing the ball along the floor and messed up more than once. Having said that I was very happy with him today and although he wouldn't have been in my starting XI he did really well.

O'Shea was very good today ... apart from his booking ... we have seen a team performance (albeit against "totally inferior" oppostion) lets not start bickering and picking on individuals where its not needed nor necessary.

Best performance by far today, winning all his aerial battles and undeservedly booked because of the cheating McBurnie fooling the Referee by rolling around.

His long passing today was excellent and he also delivered a couple of good crosses. His shorter passing at times was a bit untidy - one into touch and 2 or 3 that were intercepted when moving it out to the full back - not a pass you can afford to get wrong at this level.

I thought today was the best game O'Shea has had for us.

Some of his passing today was definitely top level stuff, not least the assist for our second. He will absolutely have to tighten up some of those slack passes to the right full back though.

He also won all of his headers against McBurnie which resulted in him becoming petulant and getting himself sent off.

Good on him, I just hope he takes confidence from it and continues to find form against actual PL opposition this week.

I’m one of those who think he’s been absolutely awful so far but today he was excellent and without doubt his best performance for us. Saw what Kompany sees in him today. More of this type of performance and he’ll end up being a top signing.

Really good performance. Admittedly against the worst front line he's going to face all year and reduced to 10 men/second string at that, but he looked good today. Needs to do that against better opposition and for me I'd still put Ekdal back in every time, but no faults today from O'Shea.

One of our standout performers in the first half. He was tremendous. Didn't have as much to do after the break and misplaced a couple of easy passes. Excellent contribution overall.

He's okay. I'm not having that his pass for Laarsen's goal was some exquisite work of beauty though. It was a long ball down the channel and Laarsen did his man for pace. No complaints because a goal's a goal, but still. Good player to have on the books, but I really want Ekdal back in the team.

Eh? Of course it was a good ball.. he clearly saw the run and unleashed it - you have to anticipate a run and weight a pass perfectly for that to come off.

It wasn't a mindless hoof upfield that's just paid off

It was an excellent ball that was perfectly measured. Larsen certainly received it well doesn’t take away from the quality of the pass. It was not just a long punt into a channel.

Anyway, you’ll get your wish with Ekdal. I think Beyer is now suspended for Wolves.

Bit disappointed by some replies in this thread tbh.

He started the season terribly - I had questioned the signing and didn't see what he offered but he's here, seems a decent lad, played well for the last few games and played well again today.

It's not like anyone else (bar Ekdal who we haven't seen much of this year) has played any better at centre half this season.

Give the lad his credit - fought hard for us today.

Certainly his best game for us today. His passing looked good for the most part although 3 poorly weighted second half passes could’ve proved costly against a better team. We do need to encourage our young team. Well played today anyway.

Best performance Turkey Teeth has put in so far, still too many wayward passes but also noticed a lot more incisive forward positive passing today which was nice to see.

I dunno, I think we see ten of those balls a game and within ten seconds forget every single one of them that is defended well enough, or where the runner makes a mess of it. Selection bias. It's obviously a very tidy assist, but I don't particularly think it inflates his prestige in the way some would have it. If he can land them a few more times then fair play, but he's probably played more football at the back than anyone else this season, and this is the first time anything worthwhile came from it. That disaster partnership of Al-Dakhil and O'Shea is still fresh in my mind I suppose.

Mate - he literally sees Larsen being played onside by their leftback and sticks one right where he needed it to go.

B0ll0cks to 'selection bias'. It's simply a good pass and a good performance. No more, no less.

Yeh, I know mate, I saw the pass, point is I don't see how it inflates his prestige by that much, because speaking more generally he's been fairly terrible this season.

Thought Dara had a really good game today, but also Beyer was fantastic - only downside to both their games was their bookings. Thought they both had great games.

Room for improvement - some of his passing was dodgy - but in general a very strong performance.

He’s growing and getting better at this level. Who expected that? It’s not as if every single player hugely improved as the season progressed last year.

His main role yesterday was to make sure McBurnie didn’t win a header. He did that brilliantly, and because we were 2-0 McBurnie was clearly frustrated. He even chased McBurnie down into the corner and got a (unjust in my opinion) booking for it. McBurnie was a fool, but O’Shea’s performance created that situation. His best game in a Burnley shirt so far for me.

As many have said, he's not exactly what I was hoping for on coming up, and still feel Al Dakhill will come good after a nervy start.

I think Dara needs to realise he's a Vidic not Ferdinand type centre half - head it and kick it.
And in the predicament we find ourselves in, it's exactly what we need. Let the creative players create, just concentrate on limiting the opposition to half chances at most

Interesting comments. O’Shea is consistently the most progressive passer/dribbler in the team.
