Great to see Foster on the bench! Bruun Larsen back wasn't expected. Think Delacroix was the natural replacement

So happy to see Lyle back and I’m sure he will get a phenomenal reception!
Benny back on the bench as well!
Would have thought Ekdal deserved a bench appearance over AAD at least.
Come on you Clarets!

Obviously Ekdal's name didn't come out in the selection bingo draw.

Both Keane and Godfrey in for Everton.
Odds changing a bit for me here, we can do this.

That squad should be good enough to beat any bottom half of the league.

Sean Dyche's new team returning to Turf Moor with James Tarkowski, Dwight McNeil and Michael Keane. Just a family reunion, really. Nice to do this (almost) at Christmas.

Not starting Ekdal against the height of Everton feels like madness

Not on the bench either which may suggest an injury?KefkaClaret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 4:38 pmNot starting Ekdal against the height of Everton feels like madness
Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
He certainly has been prone to injury over the years.
Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
Great to see Foster, Benson and Obafemi on the bench. COYC.

Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
Not sure it does he's never been favoured.
Can understand the logic of playing Jay to try offset their physicality but it neuters us up front. Still, Benson/Oba/Lyle gives us a rapid trio from the bench against a tiring slow backline. Wonderful to see Foster back, COYC

Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
Wow that bench has some surprises!
Benson
Obafemi who I thought I heard had had a setback
Al Dhakil
and
Foster who I hoped (but you can never be sure) would play again this season.

3 strikers in the squad. Benson in the squad. A left back at left back. Larsen in.
This is going to be a brilliant game or a horrible pasting. Hope it's the former

Yes, I obviously have no idea about Ekdal but surely he is ahead of AAD in the pecking order?spt_claret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 4:44 pmNot sure it does he's never been favoured.

Regarding the rest of the line up, Jay was always going to start today if fit, and I’m sure the game plan will be to stay in the game and keep it tight with impact subs back available for the latter part of the game. Would be a wonderful story if Foster scores the winner! Or maybe it could be Benny’s day?
Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
Huge surprise to see Lyle back. I'm sure he'll got a rousing welcome when he comes on.
Benny and Obafemi on the bench as well. Tremendous news!

Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
For me, this game hinges on whether Delcroix can keep it together. If he can, we've got a real chance. If not, well...Dumb cards come with a price.

Cullen also back on bench

Sad to have to sack it off today despite having tickets due to a really busy weekend, couldn’t drive there in time, but I’ve been given a boost to see that squad including Mykolenko out for Everton which I didn’t expect.

Hopefully Delcroix has kept himself ready, not sure if hes played any u23 games so might be a while since he played 90 minutes
Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
Anything today will be a bonus. Not sure how we will deal with Dwight’s crosses and DCL and Tarks in the air. But we do have a great record v Everton at the Turf. One thing is for sure, Sean will have his team fully wound up and ready to go

Re: Clarets v Everton Match Thread
Going to be a very tough ask. This Everton side are a very good starting XI and would easily finish in top half without the deduction.
Fully expect a barage of long throws.
As someone already pointed out, we are probably hoping to just stay in it and maybe make a grab for something with subs.
Anyone take a point, now?

Really surprised that Dyche went with a back five for this game.
Odobert and JBL already shown they can expose the space between the wingbacks and centre backs
