I think what he's saying is women who are terrible at commentating on football shouldn't be commentating on football.
You think that is all he is saying ?
Ok.

That's now become a tiny fraction in amongst a shedload of deliberately controversial statements.

He weirdly liked a comment I made on his Facebook in 2017 today.

A bit odd to trawl through old fb comments? Too much time on his hands?

Yes, but that's what started this off, now he's possibly just liberal baiting with his opinions which he should be free to express but the Woke government are now wanting to get involved to shut him down.

The Wokes would really like to make it illegal to disagree with the liberal establishment.

Odd that people use the term 'liberal' as an insult:

1. willing to respect or accept behaviour or opinions different from one's own; open to new ideas. "they have liberal views on divorce"

2. relating to or denoting a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy, and free enterprise

I think it’s time to unfollow Joey. It was quite amusing at first. How he’s on his soapbox shouting about anything that’s divisive.

Everything that’s wrong with Twitter.

You say that then he starts doing his Frank Beckenbauer material. Comedy gold.

And he twatted his wife so where does that leave us?

I fall into it when following transfer window gossip.

It’s just constant arguing, violence and Joey Barton shouting look at me, look at me.

Hes clearly up to something but he's refused to go on GB News which surprised me, I did think that was exactly where he was trying to get.
Some of his views can be quite reasonable, its hard to put him into a specific bracket, sort of like Piers Morgan.

I wonder if thats the kind of road hes trying to go down, I could see him doing the Morgan thing pretty well tbh but i very much doubt anyone is stupid enough to give him a job now.

Haha to be more precise, politically he can be hard to label.

He can go very hard on both right and left wing views depending on the topic, actually a trait i admire in a sense in that he formulates his own view on things rather than following an agenda.
Still a massive cockwomble though.

"Grift" seems to be a weird buzz word on here and tw!tter.
Especially when it's levelled against a millionaire who is falling out with the "buy me a coffee" and "lets crowd fund a lawsuit" brigade.

You go for it. Good luck with that on Twitter. Or X or whatever your mate is calling it these days. You might be able to get it done by the weekend once you’ve waded through all the dropshipping adverts and bots.

Odd. I’d have thought a reasonably well known individual who has just found themselves exiting their previously lucrative career would be tailor made for a spot of ‘grifting’/spouting nonsense on the platform formerly known as twitter. Especially when you chuck their well documented acquaintance with controversy into the mix.

Weird is choosing not to see that.

I think a lot of people cannot fail to see the irony that so many people who claim to be liberal actually want people cancelled if their opinions are different to their own.

Calling women ‘stupid bitches’ and then personally insulting Ed Balls for having a trans child is not just ‘opinions that are different to their own’ but then I think you know this.

Funny how the free speech king himself Elon Musk spent the day yesterday spiking various journalists accounts whose opinions didn’t follow the narrative.

I hope not, it's a shame to see him where he is now. However, it's more likely he's close to bankruptcy, everyone needs to do something to pay the bills and once the League One / Two manager jobs dried up, I guess this is his chosen path.

It's a very good point. I believe that Barton and Lineker or anyone else should be allowed to say what they like unless it is a crime .I would give people a pass if they wanted to overthrow parliament or the monarchy
It just happens that a lot of people who class themselves as liberal want to cancel people such as Barton who have different opinions to themselves. The other side is that there are also a lot of people who advocate for free speech that want to silence people such as Lineker because his views are the opposite of their own. You really couldn't make it up.

Is what Barton has highlighted , (more from his behaviour than the literal content of his tweets) is the absolute see no evil hear no evil “media bubble” that cannot and will not openly debate /criticise when necessary poor /token women pundits . This, allied to the collective media delusion that women’s football is equal to men’s and any criticism is misogynistic /hateful /racist /sexist etc .

There’s plenty of garbage male pundits too , but they do openly get roasted alive on social media on a weekly basis .

What I find interesting is that Aluko is expressing that she is suffering from online abuse. Joey Barton has had this in his entire career.

Current footballers get it much worse - Harry Maguire, for example. Commentators, referees, and managers get constant stick from everyone. As soon as a woman is criticised, its suddenly ‘a thing’.

You can give a list of crap / under performing / overrated players - even just the ones who play for Man Utd, Onana, Maguire, Anthony, Rashford, Hoijland… the list goes on.

I can't name a female player who gets any of the heat those players above do because they're all brilliant.

The obvious difference there is that Barton has, shall we say, a chequered history and receives a fair bit of abuse for that (obviously not all of it justified) rather than just for being a man.

I'm assuming you've missed female players and pundits complaining about rape threats, acid attacks, death threats, etc. Let's be honest, that kind of thing isn't because they are bad at their jobs, it's because they're women.

You see someone like Barton posting "gotchas" when a female pundit or commentator makes a mistake but the inanity of someone like Robbie Savage is ignored. It's pretty clear Barton's problem isn't crap punditry.

Whatever he’s trying to achieve by all of this - notoriety, podcast listeners etc - it’s not really working is it ?

Just like in the rest of his life he is so easily triggered - whether it be physically or verbally.

Clearly he has some pretty nasty prejudices but his biggest issue seems to be he is not the sharpest tool in the box. He rarely thinks through the consequences of his actions or words but then exacerbates everything by trying to defend them rather than apologise. In his own tiny mind he never does anything wrong so ends up digging himself further and further into his hole

It's understandable that buzzwords are, or become, very annoying.

But what word would you use in its place? The word sticks around because its useful to describe the kind of identitarian politics it describes.

It's understandable that buzzwords are, or become, very annoying.

But what word would you use in its place? The word sticks around because its useful to describe the kind of identitarian politics it describes.

The word id use to describe him would be dick head , a coward and a disgrace to human society. His wokeness makes him such a joke if it wasnt that his ''freedom of speach'' is more hate speach than I think ive seen without an arrest, Im sure if he was to shout those comments out at a football match hed be arrested and banned from the staduim. Whilst I do think if you dont like social media dont go on it, people who deliberately go out to hurt others with health problems should be banned from any form of social media.
I realsise that my comments may be hurtfull to JB but I do so because hes a coward,

Just watching the effect of freedom of speach by people and how Enaluko has felt unable to leave her house and that certain people are saying things under this cowards way.
I think I want to rip his ******* head off the cowardly ****.

That's all well and good. Its about your opinion on Joey Barton though, whereas I was posing the question as to whether there is any useful synonym for the word 'woke'.

Surely you don't believe anything she says. She's the epitome of narcissism

Barton and Aluko are a pair of nasty pieces of work.

Hopefully they’ll both sue one another into bankruptcy.

Would be interested to know what Eni Aluko has done for you to suggest she and Barton were on a par.

Odd that people use the term 'liberal' as an insult...
While others use it as shield, from behind which they insist that everyone else must think and act in accordance with the one (invariably their own) correct opinion. :(
