Semi pro I think is the official position, but yes they’ll get paid.

Will have a healthy budget given the number of City girls they are taking on duel registration.

To help promote/grow the team and inspire young girls in particular to take up the sport.

If we exclude all the positive/moral side of having a good women's side and look at it from a primarily financial point of view, then it will benefit us in the long term. If investors know they are investing in a strong men's and women's side, they are more likely to spend their money here. It is also very positive from a branding perspective, especially considering we are very US focused and the women's game is a lot more in the spotlight over there.

If nothing else though, they women are doing exceptionally well this season and they deserve a game at the Turf where a few thousand will likely turn out to applaud their efforts.

I think Jess was training at the same gym as me, the girl was called Jess, had Utd training gear on and was working with a PT on strength & conditioning. (also won the gyms kick up competition they had during the World Cup last year )

For those interested, we’re currently playing vs Birmingham City who are top of the Championship in the 4th round of the WFA cup.

1-0 down for most of the game, Birmingham clearly the better side but with lots of good play from Burnley and we’ve defended excellently. Levell, the keeper, pulled off some fantastic saves to keep us in it then equalised in additional time with a pen.

Extra time starting shortly on TikTok (yes I have an account ) for those who fancy it. If we get through it will be the first time we’ve ever reached that far.

1-3, went in search of an equaliser in the end and got caught.

Can’t say Birmingham didn’t deserve it. They were superior and worked Levell (who is a real coup, given she’s won the competition with Birmingham before - real leader, organiser, almost Pickford-esque - a bit of what we need in the men’s team) all afternoon. She pulled off some top saves but the girls caught valiantly and in parts played really well.

Showed to me they’d be fine in the league above if that’s the top team. Will be a hard slog getting there with only one promotion place though.

Yeah, definitely. They had a couple of Korean players who looked really good. You could tell the level was higher but not by as much as say you might get between top of league one and top of championship in the mens game so a real opportunity to progress the women’s team if we can get up.

That will be the issue. Newcastle now 5pts ahead with a game extra played. They’ve scored 23 goals in their last 3 games so are miles away on GD.

We have a real tough couple of games coming up. First, Forest (3rd) away weekend after next, then Newcastle at home. Two massive games that will define the season.

After that I think we’ve played all the top teams twice and have a good run in. Newcastle haven’t lost a game or drawn to anyone other than us though, so think we have to win the next two to stand a chance.

One promotion place is barmy though.

That's the trouble with it being in flux at the moment, you're suddenly getting hefty investment (and we are probably one of the teams doing this too) in the lower leagues where the promotion spots are limited.

Apparently the reason why the womens team dont play more matches on the Turf is because the pitch cant handle the 'wear and tear'. Our current pitch was laid some 12 years ago but it's supposed to be replaced every 10 years.

Anyways, where-ever the womens team play we should go and support them. They are a talented bunch who narrowly missed out on promotion last season and are currently in a very good position to get promoted this season. Huge game against Newcastle on 11th Feb.

I definitely think the singular promotion place hinders investment. Not sure I’d back our team going fully professional if the chances were so slim.

I do think that 'wear and tear' is a cop out excuse from the club. The last game from the previous season had a really good turn out (practically filled the Bob Lord stand. The club are missing out on some revenue there.
Hopefully if the club replaces the current pitch either at the end of this season or the next, we might see more home games for the women's team.

Spurs' pitch is a different sort of situation to everyone else. It is laid in boxes so that it can be 'put away' for events. Almost certainly, that is why they need to reseed it every year.
