🚨BURNLEY MAKE SECOND SIGNING OF THE WINDOW

Burnley are set to announce the signing of Maxime Esteve from Montpellier.

Source - Fabrizio Romano - Tier 1

The player pushed to join the Clarets, and a deal will see Esteve join on loan until the end of the season with a mandatory buy option if certain conditions are met.

Source - Sacha Tavolieri - Tier 1
This is excellent work, 007. All I want this from a transfer thread: the ability to jump onto the forum and scroll down quickly to find the latest gossip.

Would you mind butting the players' names in bold when they linked in the first instance? It’ll help a great deal

In that case then should we chose to de register redmond we would have 1 spot assuming that the post is correct above about the squad being full.

Obafemi and churlinov out the 25 man squad and you’d imagine Redmond would be taken out to, leaves 3 spots. Fofana taking one of the spots so we have 2 spots to fill of nobody else leaves

If Esteve signs permanently he wouldn’t need to be registered in the 25 due to age but if he’s only loan then he would have to be registered

Low risk, experienced Premier League player. You can never really know how important these players are behind the scenes.

I agree, but I think when you’re signing 30+ players across two summer windows it’s inevitable that they won’t all work out. In the main, I’d say they have, or there are promising signs that they will in future.

Agree with this also, who knows how much advice and knowledge he’s passed on to Odobert/Koleosho that we will benefit from going forward.

We have churlinov and Obefemis place free. Fofana wouldn’t need to be registered would he?

Edit, we could de register redmond also who isn’t likely to feature.
Fofana does - he's a loan player so age is irrelevant

In hindsight yes, but at the time I was pleased we were adding some PL experience and nous to our squad of "potentials". I wanted us to sign Townsend for the same reason. Why we've made so little use of Redmond may well be explained now by the fact he's had a pretty major operation, but if it isn't that I can't help but wonder why we haven't seen more of him because as mentioned there's been game after game when we've simply been crying out for a couple of well seasoned PL pros to shore us up.

🇧🇪🗣️ Vincent Kompany spoke to Manuel Benson, convincing him to stay a Claret (at least) until the rest of the season. Player’s totally focused and will be involved to maintain #BurnleyFC in Premier League.
❌ After Southampton FC, Leeds United now OFF. #SaintsFC #LUFC #twitterclarets #mercato

I'm running the risk of taking this thread off topic here so I won't comment any further after this. But this thread has been very helpful so far. I haven't got the time at the moment to wade through the other transfer thread.
Thanks to those who have contributed to it, and equally thanks to those who have resisted engaging in discussion on this thread.

Please keep it up.

Looks like it's close to a done deal.

Not sure about the O'Hare links, but there is a bargain to be had there.

🚨ESTEVE TO JOIN ON A PERMANENT BASIS

Maxime Esteve is set to become the clarets second January signing following Datro Fofana through the door.

Fabrizio has given his famous ‘here we go’ and has confirmed he will take his medical on Wednesday.

Burnley have paid €12m with a further €2m in add ons and also a 15% sell on clause for any future profit

The fact it’s permanent and not an initial loan is very interesting. It means we have 1 slot still available

Not if the “ Burnley are set to seal a deal worth £10 million, with the Frenchman first arriving on loan with an obligation-to-buy clause in his Turf Moor contract.” element is correct.

Yep, reading some comments from Southampton fans playing Bertie big bo//*cks today. Don't expect them to catch Leicester now and fervently hope they slip up to Leeds or Ipswich for that other top spot.

Surely we can't spend another £17m on top of the £10m reported for Esteve.

Totally get your point, but still doesn’t reach what we were prepared to pay for mattsen for not players. Plus that figure will be subsidised heavily

Totally get your point, but still doesn’t reach what we were prepared to pay for mattsen for not players. Plus that figure will be subsidised heavily
Yeah we can only hope the board are not panicking and overspending. I still can't believe we were prepared to pay that much for Maatsen, crazy money for a LB.

Glad he ‘convinced’ him to stay surely the new contract he signed convinced him he’s staying regardless 😂 weather he liked it or not, do hope Vinny actually uses him though as a impact sub

VK with his smoke and mirrors ,if Southampton had offered enough to satisfy the greedy manager and board they’d have sold him in a flash,
