Re: A Claret under the knife today
I had to have prostate surgery in December 2023. It took me many months of being on the waiting list and me having to chase and chase to get it done when I did.
I found it very stressful not knowing when my operation would be and then of course if it would be cancelled possibly at the last minute.
I also had my Wife and young Daughter at the other end of the world worrying themselves and like me not knowing when my prostate op would be.
It was a complete success btw. But the mental stress of chasing up virtually daily to try and push things along was massive.
Did Charles have to go through all this? I think/know not

Pretty telling when the King chooses not to make a point of using the NHS, and lets it be known he’s going private. I’m no Royalist per se but I have a lot of time for Charles. Charles is not allowed to express a political opinion on the state of society openly…mkmel wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 11:41 amI had to have prostate surgery in December 2023. I really understand and sympathise with your frustration, but he's the King....
Re: A Claret under the knife today
To me he's just a fellow human being living on this planet of ours.
And of course I wouldn't expect him to have been recovering on the bed next to mine.
It just doesn't seem right.

No it doesn’t. Maybe that is exactly the point he was making when splitting with the tradition of the Royal family being treated on the NHS.

He said it himself but i think its more he supports the town and has a long standing interest in the towns prospects rather than the football club, don't think he will be stood in the CFS chanting about t*ts, f*nny and the Clarets anytime soon.

Really? I have read several comments at least attributed to him, including that he followed our progress last season.
As I say I have no all seeing eye to either confirm or deny your opinion, but see no need to rubbish our ‘Royal support’ as it has zero effect on me.
Re: A Claret under the knife today
Mel, I’m due in on 6 Feb for a scan or whatever they do in order to decide what’s required, basically I had a knee replaced two weeks ago and couldn’t pee afterwards, I have instances of needing to rush for a pee, up through the night etc, I take a tablet to help the flow, anyway they fitted a catheter. I guess the Urologist will tell me what procedure is required. Just wondered is it a long operation and are you put to sleep, kept awake etc. Thanks in advance.mkmel wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 11:41 amI had to have prostate surgery in December 2023. When I needed my cataracts done I went private not NHS. I'm a huge supporter of the whole premise of the NHS, as a former nurse why wouldn't I be? Private: diagnosed 12th August, operation 1st September

Re: A Claret under the knife today
I don't think he cares much for football, however, he has championed the town in the past, and the Prince's Trust under his stewardship, has done good work in the area. Also, he deserves kudos for going public with his current health problems.
Re: A Claret under the knife today
First things first stop worrying about the op/procedure. It is nothing to worry about.beddie wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 2:14 pmMel, I’m due in on 6 Feb for a scan or whatever they do in order to decide what’s required, basically I had a knee replaced two weeks ago and couldn’t pee afterwards, I have instances of needing to rush for a pee, up through the night etc, I take a tablet to help the flow, anyway they fitted a catheter. I had a massive prostate so I had what is called a Holep laser op. My Consultant recommended that I had this Holep operation as it is better for men with large prostates. For normal size prostates they will do a Turps op/ procedure.
It lasted about 2 - 3 hours and I was put out under general anaesthetic. I felt nothing during the op and the only pain if you can call it a pain has been a short 2 second stinging sensation in my penis about 3 times in the first week after the op. Since then no pain.
They kept me in overnight as a precaution they said because of the size of my massive prostate/the large amount of prostate that they had lasered out to make it smaller. Recovery for me was instant. There are possible side effects and even those can be overcome in time.
Mine was a success and I can now pee over a small wall if I wanted to
And I am so happy I had it
So don't worry!
Go for it!
I wish you good luck!

Re: A Claret under the knife today
This.
He did say it, when asked if he supported a club, as does his son. On the spot he said not really but if I had to say a club, I think it would be Burnley.
As you state, it was based on his Prince's Trust charity doing much work in Burnley, so he felt more connected to the town than other places with a football team. The club has been involved with some of that work.
Re: A Claret under the knife today
Absolutely bizarre sections in our fan base, the monarch has stated he supports Burnley and the denial from some Clarets is almost what you'd expect Blackburn fans to say about it.
Most in fact every other club would celebrate and promote it to a man.

It’s a weird way of the world these days, there was a post on Twitter from the guy who’s running across the whole Africa (not too long to go) you read the comments and it’s full of people saying he wasn’t actually doing it, despite it being filmed and on Strava.

The King follows in the footsteps of his great grandfather King George V, who also supported Burnley after watching them claim their only FA Cup title with a win over Liverpool in the 1914 final.

I had my prostate cancer sorted by radiotherapy at Leeds St.James in August 2020.
Absolutely first-class treatment, no waiting, free stay in the hotel at the top of the cancer wing (run by Leeds Cares)
I cannot not fault the NHS in any way whatsoever....
For anyone unfortunate to be diagnosed: follow the Airedale, Bradford, Leeds route if possible.

Do I ? Or do I have a lot of time for justice. As someone with mental disability who has been in and out of work all my life due to ‘not applying myself’ for 52 years only to find out I had been repeatedly let down by those who were supposed to be diagnosing and helping me… I know how **** it gets and what levels of utter frustration and lack of understanding can create their own secondary problems.
The bible tells us… let he who without sin cast the first stone. I suggest you think about that.

I for one know Charles is definitely a Burnley fan. He’s actually an active member of this board.
Let’s also not forget his “Owen Coyle is god” flag at Reading away in 2009
