Re: Today's Football
Massive respect for Luton.
They work and put up a fight and put themselves on the line.
Maximum effort is the minimum requirement.

Re: Today's Football
I would be able to accept losing any games if our team put in the same effort Luton put in week in week out.
They keep themselves in games and give themselves a chance
Fair play, last thing Luton want to be doing is moving to a new stadium

Re: Today's Football
Lokonga and Barkley have been immense, both would walk in our midfield.

Tbf, their new stadium is going to be even further/closer to the centre of their town - not going to some random industrial estate or anything outside of the town.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 6:22 pmI would be able to accept losing any games if our team put in the same effort Luton put in week in week out.

They're not short of quality either. With Barkley and Lokonga in the middle just goes to show the importance of having ready made Premier league class and experience

Re: Today's Football
They are where we were 5+ years ago, lots of running round, catching teams unawares, desperate defending and the crowd really loud and supportive, but Utd could have scored a bag full this afternoon.
The most significant difference to how we played using Dycheball tactics is they transition to attack more fluidly, it’s not all long ball to the big men up front

How many chances did United want to miss tonight? So many 1v1’s. They’ll score all those vs us, guaranteed.

Re: Today's Football
I meant for them as a playing side the advantage they have having the fans so close to them. I just think they will lose some of what makes Luton Luton by moving.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 6:27 pmTbf, their new stadium is going to be even further/closer to the centre of their town - not going to some random industrial estate or anything outside of the town.
Abit like turf moor being a nice place to play at now

It’s a shame we couldn’t get the lokonga deal done, him and Berge would be class as a pairClaretFelix wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 6:28 pmThey're not short of quality either. With Barkley and Lokonga in the middle just goes to show the importance of having ready made Premier league class and experience

I thought Berkeley and Lokongo were outstanding today, against a United that whether you like it or not have been on some run recently. Genuinely feel the Luton crowd is worth a goal in every game

Man Utd could of also been out of sight today with the chances they created but maybe it’s something about Luton’s fight that affords them some luck in games

Just heard the Abel Ahmedhodzic view: “”It was a fair tackle”, well that’s brought a smile

Just check how many goals he’s scored and provided this season ,he’s worth 10 of any of our players.5 goals and 3 assists.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 6:22 pmhe gives the ball away 90% of the time he has it, he plays for Man United.

Re: Today's Football
As much as people (usually non-Burnley fans) like to tell everyone how anti-football, hoof-ball, basic Sean Dyche's Burnley played, we didn't play much different to the current Luton team. It's maybe a hybrid of Luton's intensity, "up at 'em", passing into the channels, etc. with a bit of Sheffield United's physicality imo. It wasn't that bad a style to watch from an entertainment aspect.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 6:31 pmThey are where we were 5+ years ago, lots of running round, catching teams unawares, desperate defending and the crowd really loud and supportive, but Utd could have scored a bag full this afternoon.

We had more shots, more shots on target and a higher Xg.

Re: Today's Football
The reason SD managed to keep us in the PL for the great majority of those 8 or so years, was that we were more like Luton in terms of hard work, fight and playing for each other rather than the current Burnley, where at least 3 or 4 players each week show nothing like the determination and fight required to survive

Re: Today's Football
Luton had more shots, our xG was very similar and I'll defer we had a couple more shots on target. Otherwise, they had 62% possession, almost double the number of successful passes we had and won on every single duel metric - ground, aerial etc.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 2:58 pmWe had more shots, more shots on target and a higher Xg.
I have defended the team more than most this season, but it was more in response to the quoted tweet that Luton were just an 'alehouse' team.
