Re: Season tickets next season
No need for apologies it is the internet. If people read my post as me defending the club I can't help with that. I was told early Feb they were definitely going up, at weekend I was told it was £40 a season ticket so that info was wrong.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 2:59 pmApologies…..I understand what you are saying now regarding your son and the difference but guess that’s always the case when you are on the age thresholds.
….but irrespective with your reference to £15 a game you are defending the club.
Not sure how you have known for ages that prices are going up. I missed that piece of communication personally.
It’s also the extent of the increases. It’s almost £600 in parts of the ground now - and that’s for early bird.
Our season ticket sales still account for a relatively small part of our total revenue and I just don’t see the need to impose increases of this magnitude on many fans.
The owners talk a lot about the culture of the town Ang the club (or used to) but they are getting it spectacularly wrong with this in my opinion and I believe they will see a drop off in renewals and match day attendance in the next couple of years if they carry on the way they are.
I agree there will be a drop off in numbers sold but then there normally is after a relegation also.

American owners......
There are no reduced prices for pensioners at all in American sports. As a result, you don't see many over-65's at games in the USA.
The only time I have seen anything close to a reduced rate is for armed forces veterans.
So ALK would find this a strange practice.

There is certainly an argument to say that it has been underpriced previously, i just don't see the value in gaining an extra 500k or so at such a PR cost. Maybe they are chasing more one off visitors with a higher spend and need to p!ss off regulars in order to free up space?

How do clubs who have had American owners for a while operate with the OAP tickets?

Love how they co-opted a game/sport made popular with it's (much fairer) practices then totally change the fabric of it whilst we all just sit here and let it happen.forzagranata wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 3:07 pmAmerican owners......

Vultures every single one of them.
Make money at the expense of everyone else without a care for the wider impact, then when they're bored off they pop for someone else to clean it up. Rinse and repeat, Jack Welch influenced finance guys to a T.
Re: Season tickets next season
I disagree. It's expensive compared to historical ticket prices for English football.
And looking elsewhere, the average standing season ticket for the Bundesliga was 205 Euro in 23/24. The average seated season ticket was 381 Euro.

You're not comparing eggs with eggs though are you? In the EPL market, and even the EFL market, it is very competitive. That, i suspect, is how they have looked at it.
Re: Season tickets next season
A senior season ticket in the North Stand Lower has gone from £250 to £360 next year an increase of almost 50% year on year
I think this year is the year my Dad finally calls it a day. Half his pension increase gone in a stroke
All the bad feeling for say what,£500,000 extra revenue.

I don’t agree with any price rises, but especially those that impact our more elderly fans or younger ones.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 3:08 pmThere is certainly an argument to say that it has been underpriced previously, i just don't see the value in gaining an extra 500k or so at such a PR cost. For reasons you state… the additional revenue just doesn’t justify the PR imo. And I’m not sure it all works economically when you consider the loss of fans that will likely occur.
That said though, when you look at the figures there’s no denying our pricing is just ridiculously cheap. 17th & 19th most expensive in the Championship for a team you’d expect to be challenging for promotion is brilliant. The cost per game is barely the price of a pint for u18s/u22s.

Burnley have done pretty well at retaining attendance levels after being relegated. Partly as a result of being successful in the Championship of course.
But this is a pretty good way to break that trend.

Just been reading this about Season Ticket price increases at Manchester City
the changes we are seeing at Turf Moor are widespread in the game - that does not give reason to follow the herd though, our club's owners made a point of telling us that they would be different, their approach to running the club would be unique - we are still awaiting the sight of any evidence of that.

I can’t wait to see the non-early bird prices. I fear they will be extortionate, pricing a fair few out.

Re: Season tickets next season
Bit of a fag packet calculation, but in not renewing my BFC ST, ill be able to, for the same money, (Assuming limited increases), be able to get an adult season ticket for:
Viktoria Žižkov
Sparta Prague FC
Sparta Prague Hockey
Slavia Prague FC
Some decent options to pick and choose my games from there
I also wont be making myself ill, frankly by spending so much bloody time in airports

Re: Season tickets next season
Mine has only gone up a few quid (adult in the CFS) - which is reasonable since the facilities in there are poor.
It would be interesting to know what percentage of our ST holders are on a concession ticket. Feels like the club have gone too hard on their rises and definitely gone about it too quickly.
I really hope all who want to renew, can afford to renew.

One of the major considerations for me, aside from price, was just how many games are likely to be moved to Friday nights and/or lunchtime slots to fit the usual Sky Sports EFL TV schedule. The camel's back encountered several straws in the end

My Cricketfield Stand over 65s ticket has only increased from the current £240 to £260 next season, which is an 8.3% increase. Sounds like pretty good value to me given I will be getting 8.6% increases in my State and NHS pensions next month.
Re: Season tickets next season
Not looked at this properly but OAPs and children need looking after with preferential prices imo.

Re: Season tickets next season
I mean, they do, they get lower prices, just admittedly not as cheap as previously. I guess the logic is, when you have a certain number of seats, which sell out, you are going to want to maximise the bang per buck when you sell them.
I think they have dropped the ball here, but its hard not to see the logic.
Re: Season tickets next season
A work colleague who goes on with his lad has decided not to bother next season. His lads has gone up 50%. I think there will be a few like that.

Re: Season tickets next season
The club must be expecting that relegation will result in fewer season ticket sales, therefore increase them across the board to offset the losses of a few thousand less season tickets.
As for the prices for a burnley fc twix next season, you'll probably need a bank loan.

The average price for a game next season for an Adult will come in around £18, compair that to an away ticket, a ticket for a show or concert and it's a bargain. Plus you get out of the house for a few hrs for me that's pricless

That is also another puzzle to me, seeing folk feel they are being overcharged but are happy to pay near double the price of a home ticket to go to away games. Next season away games will be even dearer in the Championship but will still attend.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 4:46 pmThe average price for a game next season for an Adult will come in around £18, compair that to an away ticket, a ticket for a show or concert and it's a bargain. Re: Season tickets next season
Exactly. Some of these rises may not seem much to better off fans. But with heating and general living costs going up then lower income people in the the local community are going to feel another hit
Also it is a shameless squeeze of the older fans that have loyally supported this club for years and it is stupidly putting a squeeze on families, younger fans, and the next generation of loyal Clarets

Taking account of the number of games increasing from 19 to 23. That’s 4 more home games or 20% more action.
When you divide the cost to calculate a per game price I think the actual increase is not excessive.
Let’s hope the players on the pitch can give is the same increase in performance quality or maybe even more.

You could give every club in the top flight £1 Billion at the start of every season, the fans would still pay through the nose to watch their team, with the vast majority of sides still making a substantial loss.
It's frankly abhorrent.

Re: Season tickets next season
I have benefited from the over 65 price for a number of years and thought the price was good value and still do. However the increase is large this year. Perhaps a smaller increase would have been better, coupled with the concession only applying if one reaches state pension age before start of season.
Re: Season tickets next season
I’ve decided to cancel and lad can’t be arsed fell out of love with football in general last couple of years ,was spending a fortune over the day and would rather have a couple of extra holidays abroad, can watch on fire stick anyway .
Re: Season tickets next season
It’s been a truly woeful season.
The club could write the book on how to systematically take apart the good feeling and good will.
Those price increases for kids and concessions are outrageous. There are a lot of unhappy customers.

Re: Season tickets next season
IF (big if!) we stay up everyone pays more per game but Youngsters and Over 65s hit harder than adults.
When we get relegated (most likely) Adults pay less per game but Youngsters and some Over 65 still hit hard.
I have no idea why the club want to alienate younger supporters for what in reality is half a wage for a bench player (which is what I estimate to be the amount of increased revenue based on these price increases)

Re: Season tickets next season
People moaning about us being unable to compete in the Premier league then moaning about a ticket price increase by the 19th (out of 20) least expensive STs in the PL need to take a look at themselves. I know most people aren't in both camps but a number are.
I know times are tough financially for most of us, me included, BUT, times are tough even for a £160m company in a league where £160m is chickenfeed, where Spurs can sell a player for £125m and still increase their ticket prices for their fans and not give any discounts for over 65s, where clubs see nothing wrong with their owners chipping in another wad of spare change to help them compete, where the notion of FFP is that it should not apply to them because they've always spent too much!
Football clubs are businesses, and if they want to compete at the highest levels they have to pay the going rate. We have tried, I believe, to do it 'on the cheap', with wage and bonus levels below average meaning the players you get are not, generally, in the top echelon. Headline transfer fees are 1 thing, revenue expenditure and commitment is entirely another.

My cynical self tells me this is a means to reduce the Seniors concession differential, year by year.
Considering the minimal income from ticket sales, versus TV/Parachute, it is penalising the long term faithful.
Begins to sound like that Johnson statement, "They have had their lives".

The priority for owners in the PL are for corporate (necessary evil if you will) and then one off day tripping fans that will come for a match and spend a few quid in the match store.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 5:50 pmIt does make you wonder which "new" fans they're trying to attract.

This works if you spend your time in the PL - certainly won't with a prolonged period in the Champ.
Wouldn't happen in Germany with their 50+1 rule.
