Lack of speed

Post by Vegas Claret » Sun Mar 03, 2024 3:12 pm

Just all far too slow, not much quicker than a pre-season friendly at times today. Compare that to how quickly Bournemouth broke when they had the chance.

We have quick players so WHY is it so pedestrian ? Has to be the tactics surely ?

Kompany picks the team and be bought this entire team bar Taylor (probably our best player today) . The buck stops with him.

Baffling how long we were taking on the ball at the back when we were getting beat.

Not just lack of speed....lack of desire, lack of organisation, lack PL skills, lack of idea.

Look at how much time Trafford wastes. Opposition teams have more than enough time to reset and get their shape back while he takes ages to play the ball. Nothing more irritating than how much our defence pass back to him when an attacking pass is on

I think we must waist 5 minutes a game in the way Trafford statically moves the ball. And how many games have we led in during the 27 matches

Someone on the other thread actually said the defenders tell Trafford to take that long when we are trailing in a game 😆😆😆

It’s so depressing to see us slow the play down. Their second goal came from us being on the end if their box and the ball somehow ending up back with Trafford. It’s so amazing how far away it is from last season.

We are overrun in transition in the midfield. Today was a classic of it happening over and over

Don’t often agree with Roy Keane, but his assessment of is today was right.

Another example is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pRUwimDgu4 if you play from 1:08 Odobert and Tavernier start off neck and neck. Odobert barely chases back and Bournemouth end up 3 v 4 with Tavernier setup for an easy pass on the edge of the box. In the event Solanki has a shot and misses.

Also stop it at 2:23 and the same is happening 4 against 4 with the two centre halves marking no one.

Kompany wastes so much time instructing players to play out from the back it gives the opposition team time to get organised.

Spot on Milltown. On one occasion we were on the edge of their area and two passes later , it was back with Trafford .

We had a throw in, in the first half in line with the edge of their box. 1-0 down, at home and supposedly trying to stay in this league - ball ended up back with Trafford. I’m sorry but that isn’t good enough. I don’t care what the managers ‘philosophy’ is or what the 5 year plan is.

I agree, our throw ins are beyond terrible. I’m really not sure how professional coaches can’t sort that problem over the course of a season.

Before the game Neville and Richards were trying to say we still have a chance of staying up.

Keane said we have been embarrassing.

Can’t really disagree with that, one of them brutal truths that hopefully focus’ minds for next season.
