I’d say z listers tbh. One of them just described Fofana’s goal as a scuffed finish.

I would have understood it better if she was talking in Swahili tbh. How can anyone with any knowledge of the game, man or woman, describe that goal as a scuffed finish. Incredible really. Such a great goal from start to finish.Juan Tanamera wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 11:17 pmI'm glad you understood what she was saying, she was talking faster than I could listen.

We would have been asking for it if it was the other way around certainly stupid from Fofana but there player also had hold of him maybe that is why it wasn’t given.DAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 11:25 pmShould Brentford have had a penalty as their manager insisted and former Brighton centre forward Murray said it was a clear penalty to him

They scored a couple of minutes later, in what you would call the VAR looking at incident period.DAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 11:25 pmShould Brentford have had a penalty as their manager insisted and former Brighton centre forward Murray said it was a clear penalty to him
So if that was given, I don't think they get chance to score the goal as well.

Murray, well known for his cheating, makes his opinion of no consequence. Re: Motd
Aldi version of coverage, amateurish and dreadful. Not MOTD really, just a pointless sludge.
Re: Motd
The reason I wouldn't give it (apart from obvious bias) is that their man had hold of Fofana until the moment the kick was taken, and he had hold of Fofana as he went to ground, and for all I know may have had hold of him in between as well. In other words, there were faults on both sides.DAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 11:25 pmShould Brentford have had a penalty as their manager insisted and former Brighton centre forward Murray said it was a clear penalty to him
I wouldn't want to see Fofana do it again, though.

Re: Motd
I like MOTD but that was v poor.
As for their potential penalty, it looked as much like their player was pulling Fofana over as the other way around so I really don’t think that’s anywhere near as clear as they, or Frank, made out, although they do get given. A couple of games in a row now where we’ve got the rub of the green with decisions which doesn’t seem to have happened all season.

Re: Motd
The other thing she said was the best thing that Muric did all game was the foul on Toney which would likely have been a penalty if they had not scored in the continued attack. They make someone like Tim Sherwood or Chris Sutton sound half knowledgeable.
Re: Motd
I found the female pundit came across as a very dull and boring individual. I’ve heard her before and found her the same then. Does she ever smile? My view regarding the non penalty, yes I think it was, players often hold each other in the box but Forfana was lucky to get away with that.

I don't know who Farah is, but I don't know what she meant by a ‘scuffed finish’, I presumed it was related to something else she's said previously or I wasn't in on the joke.

I really don't like women commenting on the men's game and vice versa.
Last night demonstrated that the 2 on show were clueless and had no background knowledge to offer. Just wrong assumptions.
Appalling. Could have spoilt a great win!

She is still awful to listen to and I don't think she makes much sense when you can understand what she's saying.
There is a place for all genders, backgrounds, etc but how would she ever be selected for a communication job? Defies logic.

Re: Motd
My take entirely. Why was Frank moaning about it not being given when they scored from free play less than two minutes later? If it had been given the whole pattern of play would have changed, and that’s assuming they would have scored it if they’d got it. Really don’t know what he was moaning about.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 11:58 pmThey scored a couple of minutes later, in what you would call the VAR looking at incident period.

Incidentally did anyone read Jose Morinho quote about Jamie Carriger this week saying he would never have made the top 1000 defenders and never won a title, and had no right to be talking about managers and what it takes to win the PL

Re: Motd
Really don’t understand your first Joey Bartonesque sentence.
Your second point was spot on - ie you can be ill informed, inarticulate or plain dumb whatever gender you are.
Where we are possibly in agreement is that people are being giving roles presenting football and sport in general because of their gender or background rather than their ability to do the job and that is not only wrong but it’s also diluting the quality massively.
But the people making these decisions clearly have other priorities and targets to meet and if that means in the long term more women etc wanting to be involved in careers in sport (or other walks of life that historically they may not have been) then that’s a positive thing (for future generations rather than ours maybe !)

I agree it's probably an unpopular opinion but I'd completely separate the 2. Let men be involved in the men's games only covering everything & the women doing what they need to do. There's no need to mix the 2.

I have no problem with match of the day, except for when we lose which has been most of this season. I think the Brentford penalty claim was not given because both players were holding onto each other, but some referees may have given it.
Re: Motd
not watched motd properly for years, it's gone downhill so rapidly it's almost criminal
Any team below the big six just gets there occasional comments:
they are well organised
they all know their jobs

Re: Motd
Pretty stupid logic given carragher won a champions league medal and came very close to winning the league. That in itself at least gives him an insight of how a club might just fall short. And moreover the fact that Mourinho did absolutely zero as a player, should he have no opinion on what it takes to be a top player then?warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2024 9:54 amBBC have now got some shocking pundits who know sweet FA about the various clubs and are stealing a wage. An excellent goal from our Chelsea lonee I thought.
Re: Motd
The penalty claim against Fofana before we went 2-0 up. There was a review against Muric on Toney probably just prior to their goal but Frank doesn’t refer to that one I don’t think.houseboy wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2024 9:53 amMy take entirely.
