Welcome to Targetman
CORRECT with all 4 answers and explanation for question 4
“4a Sheffield Utd
4b Ray Hankin 2 points
4c Tony Currie
4d Saturday night game with Burnley using a generator to power the floodlights during the 3 day working week. “

He gets 2 points for 4b Ray Hankin but the other answers already in.

Dingle Dangle ALL 4 correct for Q4 but despite this no points as just pipped by the other posters above. Unlucky.

Life of Riley gets well deserved FUN points for
1g Anthony Cheetah Gordon
AND
1g Shaun GOATER

Tricky Trevor gets 2 points for CORRECT answer - 1e mark beevers

Dingle Dangle only seconds too late for “Beever” unlucky no points there.

Welcome to Daveisaclaret – Ill put your answer as 1g and give you a FUN point for “Thought 1b could have been Chris Baird”
Same with Tricky Trevor and his suggestion 1b never a FB but Chris Eagles - 1 FUN point

Life of Riley baffling me with his extensive knowledge of wild life but Ill award a FUN point for this suggestion - “1G Chris PINE Martin “ you have to laugh at the ingenuity of people,

The nearly man 😆
However, I'll start the controversy that I remember from those Clarets Mad days.......do I not get any points for Brian Dear and Mick Lyons......if they were correct that is? 🤔

Great to have this back Beehole 👍

This week’s toughie…..

A game from the 1970s;

Clarets line up in a league game at Turf Moor and we suffer a 2-1 defeat against Yorkshire rivals despite yet another goal from a promising young striker. Our opponents winning goal was scored by one of English football’s most magical midfielders. This game was significant in-so-much as why it was actually played when it was.

b. Who was our young striker? …………………….. RAY HANKIN (2 points)
c. Who was our opponents magical midfielder? …………………………… TONY CURRIE (2 points)

6 Who Am I? (4pts)
I was born in Scotland in the 1950's and made my debut for Burnley in the old first division. I played in the old second division until our relegation to the third division in 1980. I joined another North West club and captained them to a fourth division championship alongside a number of ex Clarets. In the mid 1980's I played for 2 seasons in Holland and then returned to play at Chester and then onto Turf Moor once again in the summer of 1989. I was to be sent off in my 500th football league game. JOE JAKUB

I’ve just seen it. Kept against us at Wembley but isn’t one missing?

You’re too good for me TT.

I didn’t include the Sherpa Van final. Was it Mark Kendall (later to become a Claret?)

Yes, it was ... one of 28 " Clean Sheets " he achieved that season which remains a record at Wolves ... He only played twice for us, a 2-0 away win at Chesterfield and then was made the scapegoat for a shockingly bad defensive performance in a 5-2 defeat at Blackpool. Chris Pearce was recalled for the next game.

Kendall joined South Wales Police after his retirement, receiving two commendations for bravery, one for disarming a knifeman. He went in Police training, and won the UK Police trainer of the year award in 2007. Tragically, he collapsed and died at his home on 1st May 2008, aged just 49 ...

How sad to read that about Mark. A sad ending for a brave man. It’s a shame his time with Burnley was not more enjoyable.

Thanks for the update.
