I agree that there's clearly morons that are conspiracy theorists as well as morons that believe everything they read in the media. Does that mean we should disregard everything thats called a 'conspiracy'?

Id suggest as an example that Jimmy Saville would still be seen as a legendary eccentric but for the persistance of conspiracists as one example.

Ill also add here before it comes up, i dont class myself as a conspiracy theorist.
The word you're looking for is 'victims'.

Sure, that wasnt meant to disregard the bravery of the victims coming forwards as well. But the theories were rife long before then and im sure their support was of a huge help to those victims as well.

It just depends on how you want to view them. Unfortunately they are portrayed as nutjobs aided by governments and media who like to feed that view

Exactly what I thought upon seeing the news - and that's why I have absolutely 0 time or tolerance for them these days.

They've caused so much damage to society in recent years.

Irrespective of one's thoughts on the Royal Family as an institution, no one wants to see anyone ill - and she seems like a really decent woman.

The saving grace is that she really will have the best possible care.
I would say that the legacy media, corporations and government have caused far more damage to society than any conspiracist in recent years.

The Gov is turd - they're getting voted out.

Legacy media - depends.. red top papers etc suck as always but there's some great stuff reported.

Corporations - yeah they suck, but with good governance would be sorted.

Conspiracy theorists have led to stuff like this (short sample, could go all night):

https://www.theguardian.com/society/202 ... s-increase

At the end of her recorded message Kate asked for time, space and privacy whilst she undergoes her recovery.
In line with Kate’s wishes BBC and Sky reporters camped outside Windsor Castle indulging in a whole range of speculation from the timing of the message to the types of drugs and treatment that Kate might be receiving.

I'd suggest most people knock it on the head on this thread or start a new thread for conspiracy theories.

Another person has revealed a life changing cancer diagnosis tonight, a mother with young children. Whether you respect her position as future Queen or not doesn't really matter, but perhaps adding questions over how Jimmy Saville was caught into the same thread isn't appropriate.

I sincerely wish nothing but the best for her and all those suffering from cancer.

The bbc is stressing her need for privacy and the importance of protecting her from media intrusion.

It then proceeded to spend well over 2/3 of the main news programme on pictures of her walking up and down, and speculating on her condition.

I wish her well along with around 1,000 relatively young people who recieve a cancer diagnosis every day in Britain.
Well said sir

Ah yes im sure she is incredibly worried about a debate about consipracy theories on the up the clarets forum
Everyone has been respectful and wished her well and its branched off into a related topic.
Theres literally 0 point in the thread if its just people wishing her well because she's never going to read it. Some discussion is allowed, dont be so uptight.

Time for Sky and the Press Preview and a first look at tomorrow’s front pages
“Oh, look there’s Kate, let’s hope she and her family now get all of the privacy that they have asked for”
“Now, let’s take a look at what we know so far”

Good luck with getting some privacy Kate and a speedy recovery.

I partly agree I think there’s far too much sensitivity with people seemingly being offended mortally wounded may be more apt regarding discussions taking place. I can remember the old thread about the king when he was diagnosed I only said it’s undetermined regarding the specifics of the cancer & I was jumped on for somehow not leaving him alone. I think some people act like they personally know these people maybe they invite them round for cups of tea into their homes. It certainly appears that way.

Completely agree that she needs privacy. Let's hope that this also extends to her life when she's recovered. Can't have it both ways surely.

Surely you can have it both ways? Not just members of the royal family, but all people, may want to be treated differently when they are seriously ill from when they are well. There is no justification for a hard-and-fast rule that "this is how you must be treated regardless of personal circumstances".

You seem to have called me a weirdo and then repeated my exact point that she clearly wouldn't care a toss about what's written on here.
What have I tried on other posts sorry? It amazes me how many people on here are incapable of having a casual debate without resorting to childish outbursts.

Where did I say she might be worried about the debate on the forum? I also never said discussion wasn't allowed, simply suggested an alternate thread may be more appropriate to discuss the merits of conspiracy theories if people are branching out to other theories.

Not all threads need a point, people can just wish another person well without knowing that person and knowing they will never read the message.

I think the privacy she wants and deserves are no intrusive photos of her and her family going about their everyday life,I'm quite sure they won't object to reasonable reporting about public engagements attended or missed etc.
