I check this website. I suspect most of us do. It's a lot more up-to-date and professionally run than the official club website.

That’s not fair. I don’t incessantly berate our young goalkeeper. I have pointed out where I believe he is weak or deficient in ability.
I don’t have a problem with the young lad, other than I believe he is not up to the standard required for the level he is playing at.
I have berated Vincent Kompany for keep selecting him and other players and I won’t apologise for that.
If you read my posts there is plenty of constructive criticism in them. However, certain people would consider them not constructive because they perceive them as being negative.
Each to their own I suppose. It is a message board after all.
I agree Trafford is nowhere near good enough.
people saying he will be a good keeper 1 day is just hot air, the fact is that no-one knows how good he might be.
Turning potential into a consistent ability to be the best is not a given.
Didn't Man Utd once pay us 1M for a lad who had potential? That didn't turn out well as I remember.
Also don't let rentagobs bother you, there's a few on here who have difficulties in accepting others opinions.

An interesting stat from the Athletic:
Trafford ... has the highest cross-stop percentage of any English goalkeeper in the Premier League (7.2 per cent).
😮 Does that mean he craps out on 92.8 of crosses ? 😮

Get shut.

I really don't see where some people see potential, I can't. All aspects of he's game are weak, I've tried to see positives but there are seriously none there imo, the only thing I see is that he's reflexes are quite good most of the time, but it's not always consistent. Maybe it will change in a year or two, but I just don't see it.

You can trust your own opinion of course as we all do but i'm not buying it that he's been at city for this long and worked under some of the best the game has to offer for him to have no potential.

He's got massive potential.

“ all aspects that of his game are weak “
“ tried to see the positives but there are seriously none “
“ don’t see any potential “
“ quite good but inconsistent reflexes “

You instantly lose any credibility your argument may have had when you post total and utter ignorance like that . Do you realise how ludicrous you sound evaluating a keeper who’s been a prodigy for yrs , been trained by the best coaches and rose to City no 3 at 19yrs, not to mention 30+ games at assorted Eng ages ? The stats you have to repeatedly meet through the ranks at that level are monstrous. He’s 2 footed and technically very very good , though does have a lot to learn tactically .

I’ve no idea why we signed him tbh, as Muric always looked good , but to call out his ability as you have done is beyond bizzare .

How low a bar are you setting? I presume you think he at least has potential to play in League One, because at 19 years old he was one of the top goalkeepers in League One. Do you think that it his absolute limit, or do you think he might get even better than League One?

Or do you, as the tone of your post suggests, genuinely think he can't be a professional goalkeeper and last year was a total fluke?

Well one has to assume that he has some potential to play in league one because he's said to have had a decent season, but there's one hell of a gap between league one and Premier league. And also a hell of a gap between England u21 and premier league imo. As lot's have said, if vk and the recruitment saw further potential such that we just simply had to buy him then the natural progression would have been a season long loan in the Championship imo, but to throw him in the deep end without a paddle as vk has done is just ludicrous imo. He may turn out to be a good keeper, but as I've stated, I've seen absolutely nothing to suggest being anywhere near a Premier league keeper, and I haven't so far seen any such potential to become that, so consequently wouldn't wish him to come back into the team right now. He's place at best this season was a championship loan where he himself may have had a better chance to grow and fulfil that potential in order to then make the next step, and we in turn could also see more of that potential, but for me right now it's just not there, sorry if that doesn't comply with some people's views on him, but it is what it is, and for me right now he has a heck of a long way to go.

It’s a surprise that Trafford hasn’t insisted that a term of his inclusion in the England squad is that he starts every game.

No, but media reports suggested initial £14m with £5m add ons, albeit not many media reports are correct I know, but I did only say I think. But think it's fair to say there'd be an add on for an England debut.

Confusing. I honestly can't see how you can think he is a good enough goalkeeper to play in Championship at 20, but not good enough at any stage in his future career to be anywhere near the PL.

I never said he was good enough to play in the Championship, in context with my post I suggested it could be the next step to realise he's perceived potential, although as I've clearly stated I don't see that potential right now, but I'm merely suggesting that that may be a better way rather than throwing him in what's said to be the best league in the world. To be honest I don't see him any better than the level he played at last season right now. Given he supposedly had a decent season in league one, I suggested it may have been the next natural step in a path to his perceived potential to being a Premier league goalkeeper that some people think he's capable of becoming. However, I'm not one of them.

Problem for some is they have spent the whole season crying about Trafford that as soon as anything positive happens with him they feel the need to make dumb comments.

He has basically been called up to help with training and some "fans" can't wait to have a bitch and moan. Let;s just be grateful for the adults on here that it was Pickford at fault or the juvenile ones would have made this a tough place the next few days.

Anyone unhappy, or who has a problem about, a 21 year old Burnley player being called up to the full England squad has a psychological issue… or just isn’t a Burnley fan.

Over the past few seasons there have been numerous posters on this board writing off players saying they would never be able to make the step up to the PL and were in their honest opinions Championship players at best. Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney just 2 examples. The latest was Gykores who many posters didn’t rate as a top class striker and stated that Coventry would be “having our pants down” if we even considered paying their asking price. Some PL clubs now said to be considering paying his reported £100m release clause.

Football is always a matter of opinion and one fan will see different attributes in the same player to another .I like the Swiss coach, highly rate Zeki some fans want him gone.VK rates Traff ,Tressor and Ramsey most of our supporters,me included don't. I think Annass and Benny are two of the best players I have seen at Burnley in many a long year VK doesn't rate either which is in imo a serious error.

There's a bit of that - but wanting players to play that have
- actually done something significant in a Burnley shirt
- are (at least right now) better and more suited to our style of play

isn't crying. It's just wanting the best or the team.

On reflection it was an easy callup for Southgate to make (already at the facility etc) I just think that right now all this hype and superlatives/predictions need to stop and let him naturally develop.

Seen far too many with promise that were thrusted into the limelight and it hasn't worked out. What's the rush?

Could do with a full week of just catching crosses in SGP getting jostled by England defenders.

Can only help his development.

But if he is the second best keeper in English football right now we are in trouble should Pickford get injured as he’s not much cop either.

With johnstone now ruled out he’ll likely go to the euros now as 3rd choice

If he doesn't play again this season then Henderson, Butland, Ramsdale will all be ahead of him.
When's Pope due to return?

I'd say Henderson and Ramsdale are ahead of him regardless.
