Is Summer On Its Way

This morning I saw the first swallow to arrive on our property,although not a bird person myself I was not expecting them to arrive so early in the year.

Remember the old proverb……one swallow doesn’t make a Summer.

One swallow does not a summer make.

If you saw 2 though, that's a different kettle of fish.

A couple of days ago the (very good) localish ice cream maker's van appeared in the shopping centre where it will be parked for 6 months or so.
I'm off into town shortly for some provisions and will pick up a rum n'raisin variety- spring is definitely established now.
I'm not casting any clouts just yet though ;)

Judging by the hale stones and sleet we saw yesterday in Rossendale and Accrington, summer has indeed arrived. 8-)

Last night at tea time it was 4 degrees in Burnley.
Snow fell on Pendle for a short while and the gritters were out last night.
It's a Bit warmer today and fine.

It is summer when It's constantly above 10 degrees at 5 am when the missus gets up. Only then am I permitted to knock the timer off for the central heating.
