Lyle Foster's class

Post by ecc » Sun Apr 21, 2024 11:57 am

It was mentioned on the match thread I think but having just seen the goals I'd like to underline the class and respect of Lyle Foster.

The man scored his first goal in four months but instead of celebrating he went straight to his teammate, Lorenz Assignon, who had set him up.

Might seem minor but a sign of his class as a person.

I can’t recall who it was against, but when he was a substitute warming up, we scored and I’ve never seen a bench player celebrate as much as he did that day. He’s definitely a team player.

I couldn’t believe how much room he had, the defender backed off. Yes very pleased for him and hopefully more to come.

I thought his head dropped against Brighton, but was definitely more up for it yesterday and it was great to see him celebrating with Assignon.
Before his time off, he looked like he would score lots of goals in the premier league, It'd be a great time for him to go on a scoring run

Yep, agree that he looked the real deal before his layoff. Big, strong, agile and busy. What more could you want from a PL centre forward?

Only seen his ability in fits and starts since his return…. And the less said about Brighton the better…. But I’m sure he’s got exactly what we need at championship level AND the premier league should we get another crack at it.

Weirdly, I was watching Foster's movement rather than Assignon in the build up, don't know why. The first defender got sucked towards the ball and the other one was too slow in covering. Clever positioning from Lyle, tidy finish too.

Off thread.
Fofana made a couple of excellent runs, after coming on, but wasn’t spotted by our guy with the ball.
I still don’t think they can play together, too similar, but nice to have them both for the run in.

Not the best of pairings with fofana, and when on the wing is woefully out of position . Though next season ( if he stays ) he should be far too good for the champ. Hopefully gets us promoted and a big chunky fee when sold .
