Just watched the dig, and loved it. I'll try the other two based on your recommendation.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 7:39 pmThe Dig, White Tiger, News of the World - three excellent films.

Re: Netflix recommendations
Netflix is rubbish. Try and subscribe to the Criterion Channel. An unbelievable selection of films from all over the world. There has never been or never will be such an epic channel for films and all for around ten pounds a month.

Re: Netflix recommendations
I had no inclination of watching any of the 'additional' channels although I subscribe.
Tried a few of the previous recommendations (not just Netflix). Standouts included:
The Investigation:
BBC? Subtitled Swedish series. I never thought that I could watch a subtitled film, nevermind, a full series.
The End of the F***ing World:
Brilliant series. Dark humour in spades. Reminds me of Ian Banks novels. A deep look into our conventions.
Black Mirror:
Standalone episodes. A view into the near future regarding IT / Social media platforms. Some of the episodes are crap but still make a must see. Some episodes are simply remarkable.

Re: Netflix recommendations
BBC iPlayer currently has all series of The Fall and Spiral on it. Both superb. I find many Netflix series tend to drag storylines out , often blatantly playing for another series rather than plot resolution.

Don't f**k with Cats
Cecil Hotel
Unsolved Mysteries
The Staircase
Making a Murderer
The Neighbour (I think this is the right title).
All the above TV documentaries, regarding murders and unsolved cases.
As a film, watched Zodiac at the weekend starring Jake Gyllenhall (sp?) and Robert Downey Jnr which was very good.

Re: Netflix recommendations
If you don't mind subtitles, "Deadwind" set in Finland is fantastic.
Second series just as good as the first.

If you like these you have to watch “the jinx” amazing documentary. Not sure where you would find it though but would be well worth a search.claretburns wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 8:58 amDon't f**k with Cats

Not sure if animation is your thing... and generally I’m not that into it..
But Rick and Morty is one of the finest things I’ve watched in years.

Re: Netflix recommendations
Ozark was excellent and there is a fourth series planned for this year.
Must thank those who recommended Queens Gambit. You don’t need to be a chess player too get the tension of the matches and it bounces along at a good pace.

Re: Netflix recommendations
Whilst I enjoyed it, it reminded me in parts of the most excellent film “the Thomas crown affair” (the remake with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo)
Unforgotten is on there now, most excellent series with Nicola Walker starring.
