Sorry Wilks.
I don't want Mags to get anything out of this.
But some of the penalties awarded lately are pathetic. That then being one. He was even having his arm 'headed' up!
It was just an accident!

I’d say if it stays 3-2 that’s as good as Newcastle safe even a draw isn’t bad, it conflicts with Rileybobs & a few others prediction earlier on that Newcastle were almost certs on, & my steadfast prediction that Newcastle would be ok.

Lincoln City take the lead 1-0 Bristol Rovers in the 97th minute... surely this will finally sink Joey’s team

Why have Sky decided to name all clubs by town or city, unless there are two clubs there.
What happened to City, United, Albion, Wanderers, etc.,?

Well it will be us, not Newcastle that the media will now focus on as their darling Fulham’s team to catch.

So you think anyone said Newcastle were certainties to go down, despite being six points clear before today's game?

To be fair I think a fair few were wishfully thinking Fulham and Newcastle would swap places by the end of the season. I think Bruce needs some credit for not rushing players back in panic and risk losing them when they were most needed. I think Brighton was the club that could well have been dragged into it but they’ve had more bottle than they’ve shown in previous seasons, whether that is faith in the manager or due to COVID closing grounds to fans, I guess we’ll get an indication next season.

I quite rightly correctly recall a couple of months ago, Newcastle were suffering a bad run & I don’t think we were too bad at that particular time & a few posters couldn’t understand at that particular time why the bookies had the disparities between us had such long odds, & when the bed wetting session curtailed & some semblance of clarity was restored the realisation of the forthcoming fixtures seemed to dawn, it’s 1 of them something is ridiculously silly at the time but you go back to remind people a couple of months ago.

Of course we are, the point being if the gap is closed prior to the Man U game we are in a very serious position at kick off.
Our luck has run out Newcastles has started what happens if Fulhams luck turns ?

Pope must play if we are to get anything from OT. He just gives his defenders so much confidence. Nothing against BPF but he is not Popey

We are the team Fulham will now hope to catch. Every chance they will get something tomorrow and we will lose. We could have put this to bed in the last 2 matches which on paper were 2 of our ‘easiest’ games. The concerning thing for me is how un Burnley like we have been in the last 2 games. We don’t look like grinding out any result at the moment.

Newcastle have been shorter odds for relegation than Burnley pretty much all season since we arrested our horrible start.

Even now they're more or less the same odds as we are.

That didn’t stop some people from thinking the Tyne ship was going under amidst the atrocious run awhile ago, some people were absolutely convinced that was going to happen & any notion we was somewhere similar if not worse was completely dismissed, i always maintained no way in gods green country that Newcastle were ever going to get relegated no matter how dire things looked back then, it turned itself around as most wise people predicted it would.

Yet why don't you think we are anywhere near as safe, even when we have/had a dire run?

Maybe because we don't have key players of the calibre of Saint Maximin and Callum Wilson, who can both provide that missing cutting edge, waiting on the sidelines to return to the starting 11?

I’m not necessarily comparing them & us, i never thought we would get relegated & still don’t, it was never in contention that Newcastle or burnley would be relegated, the comparisons were actually humorous, I always maintained Newcastle & burnley would be safe whilst some people were convinced Newcastle were becoming relegated. The truth is roughly about 75% on this forum are incredibly clued up regarding football & roughly the other 25% know absolutely nothing about football & just blag it that they do, & when early reminders are flagged, project backtrack is activated, good evening.

Newcastle are now safe baring the shouting, mind you they did make hard work of that game 2nd half, and nearly squandered the 3 points, however that late winner has taken them out of the relegation equation baring a weird combination of results.

So it looks to be between Brighton, Burnley & Fulham, I'd still much rather be in Brighton & Burnley's shoes points on the board are gold dust in this scenario, but we could do with Arsenal following up their EL win with a similar goal glut tomorrow, we may get something at OT, I certainly wouldn't rule it out, but the defeats to Southampton and Newcastle have made the end of the season much nervier than it could and indeed should have been.

Really 1 more win should be all we need, but it's proving frustratingly elusive alas, it will come eventually we just need to hold our nerve and back the team and manager, whenever they've been asked the question before they've always had the answer, and there's no reason this time should be any different.

Little evidence that Fulham are capable of getting anything from anywhere, their form is woeful and I doubt that they will get anymore than 33pts.

West Brom are the inform team and I am be more concerned about them with big Sam in charge

I think they are the ones to watch, especially as they play Leicester next, who like West Ham, might struggle to hold onto a top four spot.

We were always going to have another poor run of form and the teams already on poor runs were always going to string a few wins together.

It’s squeaky bum time again but we should still have enough to be safe, more so because the teams below us aren’t very good.

Our final points tally will be really poor, though.

Hmm! we could ideally do with Arsenal and Leicester winning their next league games, Leicester of course have the cup semi tomorrow, and whether they win or lose that could determine what frame of mind they'll enter the WB game in.

I find every City game a yawnfest. I’m sure they think you get bonus points for most passes, even in the cup. I wouldn’t normally watch them. Come on Chelsea.

Norwich ahead in the opening minutes, if they carry on like this they could easily smash the 100 point barrier.
