It would be a surprise if we don't sign players as the main reason the owners wanted a premier league club, was to show off their sscouting system to the football world.

Re: Linked with..
In Harry Wilsons time at B’mouth he never looked near what L’pool wanted for him.
Re: Linked with..
It was quite heavily reported (in press and on this message board) that we were very interested in Wilson but a couple of £million was the difference between our valuation and that of Liverpool so the deal didn't go through
Not sure about this weekend's games but game before last he couldn't even get in the starting 11 for Cardiff and was on bench
Dodged a bullet with the guy
Which continues to raise my concerns about the ability of our recruitment team to even identify potential young talent, never mind have any money to get deals over the line

Re: Linked with..
He scored a hat trick yesterday for Cardiff which is why he was brought to my attention again. I’d say he would be a very similar player to Brady for us, albeit slightly more fit. He need a permanent home which is often the difference for many players who are going on loan hither and yon on the regular.

Not really sure who you think we will be able to afford that’s gonna have better stats than that.

Cardiff are paying his full 60/70k wages that he gets at Liverpool.
Not sure I want us paying him similar.

Big money to attract and keep the best young players in the premier league.
Chelsea were paying 40k a week for youngsters when we signed Chalaboh(sp).
The more they're on the more you can charge loan fees I guess.
Re: Linked with..
Sergio Kun Aguerro to Burnley.
(Report from MacNews)
There we are. Now we are linked, perhaps we can sign him. Europe for us then.

Given our complete lack in depth and quality out wide I'm amazed some people wouldn't have Andros Townsend on a free. He's played 30 plus games in 4 of his last 5 years, compared to Brady who hasn't managed 20 games in a single season in his last 5 years.
I'd probably want a new Right winger anyway but surely he would be a good squad addition.

Harry Wilson in premier league for Bournemouth last season - 7 goals
Gudmundsson, McNeil, Westwood, Brownhill, Cork, Brady, for Burnley this season - 7 goals
Not sure how anyone can turn there nose up at Wilson. Would definitely improve the quality of our squad.
He would add much needed goals from midfield.

Totally agree. Hasn’t torn the Championship up this season but certainly has something and we’d have a FK specialist too. Quick and certainly knows where the goal is.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 8:33 pmHarry Wilson in premier league for Bournemouth last season - 7 goals

That said, not sure he is worth the rumoured £16m that Liverpool wanted last year or that he’d fit in with our hard-working style. Might be being unfair but seems to love himself a bit to me.
Disappointed if Andersen is snapped up. He’d be a great signing for us.

Arsenal and West Ham have already been linked with the Danish international.

No requirement to live in the town just the need for a very large transfer fee of £25m+ to Lyon and wages to match.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 9:32 pmDidn’t realise it was a requirement to live in the town.

Anderson would be moving to Cheshire, a few miles from Manc airport if he signed. What's not to like? On the other hand I love Padiham. He could stop in bed a bit longer.

Re: Linked with..
I'd be happy if we get numbers in. Not concerned so much about quality. We need squad depth before we start thinking of improvements. That is unless someone thinks we can fill 4 remaining squad registration spots (5 when Tarkowski goes) all with people who improve our starting 11.boyyanno wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 8:28 pmGiven our complete lack in depth and quality out wide I'm amazed some people wouldn't have Andros Townsend on a free. On the January Transfer Window Discussion thread I put up Siriki Dembele as a player to keep an eye on in League 1, and see from the BBC gossip page today that the player is attracting some interest albeit from Crystal Palace, Celtic and Rangers.

Re: Linked with..
How come they let such an expensive player go out on loan? Seems odd that such a quality/expensive player would not be in their first team plans?
Re: Linked with..
Realistically there was about £40-50m in the bank. About £30m of that cash balance was related to future TV money and it was showing because we'd shifted our accounting year compared to normal.

It was reported the fee was €24, and he signed a 5 year deal.
He played 32 games season last season, but has been sent out on loan this, who knows whether that was to put him in the window, or he wasn't fancied, or simply for some experience and more game time.
I'm sure Fulham will be paying a hefty fee and his wages, however if you could swap him for Tarky without indirectly costing anything I think itd be outstanding business, and theres no reason we couldn't.

Re: Linked with..
Thanks MACCA. Knew he’d cost Lyon a few quid but thought it was less than £25m in the earlier post. Most likely a combination of factors - shop window, some of the transfer fee recovered and lower running costs for the season.MACCA wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 10:00 amIt was reported the fee was €24, and he signed a 5 year deal.

Would love us to move swiftly for talent like this. But if WHU or Arsenal are really interested (and personally think many clubs will be far more financially hindered than the press would have you believe at the moment), we’ll need to get back to looking through Stokes squad list for recruits!

Linked with Ryan Christie again this morning. Bizarrely he’s out of contract in January so could sign a pre-contract with us this summer or look to tie it up in the summer for a reduced fee. Norwich also linked.

The talk is of Celtic having a clear out this summer as their players aren't good enough.
Why would we be after a player that can't get in their side regular?
