Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
An object lesson in what has been obvious and apparent so often this season. We are still a PL outfit because we are just about the 17th best team in the division. Yes, there are 3 worse teams than us and yes, we CAN produce some really good performances and results when it's desperately needed, but so, so often now the average/mid table opposition are so much better than us and clearly the writing is on the wall and has been for some time that the PL has moved on and we have stood still and there's a hell of a lot to sort out if next season isn't going to be a season too far for us and it won't come cheap!
Just as an aside, I never think BPF does anything wrong, so why does he always seem to concede so many goals?? I can't work it out! And if Vydra scores his one great chance at 0-1 would it have been any different today?? Maybe it would.

Ah well. At least we're safe and didn't give them the satisfaction of walloping us and putting us in trouble.

Stephens cost 750k and was our only signing of note
Rodrigo cost 27 million and was one of quite a few
That's the difference, miles better squad

They didn’t even have to play counter attack today. The gap between our midfielders and Tarks & Mee was enormous. They were walking around in the space.
No complaints. They weren’t that good but we were dire. It happens, move on.

If Sean Dyche’s post match interview has any positives after that, I’ll be bet surprised. That really was a I can’t be arsed anymore performance from us. The commentators kept saying we were looking a very tired side, but my word haven’t we had at least a weeks break between each game for the last month.

DA is actually an intelligent person, a closet Leeds fan that loves winding folk up but KRBFC I’m not so sure about, I’m not convinced he’s actually a Burnley fan to be honest, harmless though, neither are abusive like some seem to get in reply to them.

indeed and unfortunately it makes a difference. We have a long way to go to catch up in terms of squad quality. I'm not remotely arsed about today though

Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
What got me down today was the cheating not the score line. Alioski blatantly showing he dived by his reaction afterwards.
In my opinion if you dive like that and have so little respect you also openly like to rub your opponents face in it by laughing at them afterwards then you should see red.
There's no conduct any more and those in charge of the games do nothing about it.

I said the same during the game. Difficult to attribute many of the goals he concedes to his mistakes, but he lets a lot of goals in and doesn’t seem to have much of a presence. Hope I’m wrong.

BPF should have done better with the 4th goal and possibly better positioned on the 1st, other than that faultless

Moaners….or realists? You sound like you will be happy with relegation next season? Whereas us moaners (realists) think it would be better to put in the required funds to protect our Premier League status. It matters not what we do against Liverpool on Wednesday. It’s all about next season now. But I would suggest that we need more moaners (realists) in the crowd. A passionate support, rather than passive supporters (quietly accepting) defeats.SussexDon1inIreland wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 2:26 pmI hope the moaners on here don’t get any of the 3500 tickets vs Liverpool

He didnt make any monkey gestures and it looked like the face he pulled was at the Burnley bench. I think the incident is similar to when that player gestured in front of Mourinho and got him to react and that is what was probably discussed and noted by the ref.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 2:52 pmIt would appear that the incident will be included in the Refs report. Perhaps you can be an expert witness?
If something comes out after to suggest it was something more sinister then as always I hope its dealt with strongly but its a bit rich coming from you who is normally one of the first to play down racism and defend those accused of it
Edit: As per posts since that second face is similar to what is seen as a monkey face so Im interested to hear the refs report or what our club has to say. If it was a racist gesture then we really need to start taking tough action

Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
wages of anywhere from 30-50k p/w over 2 years is 3million- 5.2million, we are heavy on bonuses, plus any signing on fee. It's a hefty outlay for a player who isn't anywhere good enough, old with no resale value and contributed nothing.milkcrate_mosh wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 2:26 pm9 million??
The fee is widely reported to have cost 1 million, Stephens is not going to cost us another 8 times that in two years that's clearly absurd.

Whilst we need to be careful of any accusations and let any investigation take it’s course, if you google image search ‘monkey face gesture’ then you get the following.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 3:01 pmHe didnt make any monkey gestures and it looked like the face he pulled was at the Burnley bench. Look not the end of the world but ,,,,,,,,,,,, lets hope we do not sell Pope as BPF is a good keeper but not in the same mold as Pope .
How you make stops and talk to your defence is massive .

Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
Fair enough we can agree on 30k p/w, it's still over £3M in 2 years in wages and that's without the fee we paid, any signing on bonuses/agent fees and then we all know the squad is heavily topped up in bonuses.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 2:27 pmHe won't be on 50k a week unless you've got a link saying otherwise.
Most suggest its mid £30's.
It's still £4.5m-£10m.
It's an awful lot of money for a player who isn't good enough, was never gonna be good enough and has contributed nothing and we can't shift him. We simply have to do alot better recruiting, going forward.

If we've structured a "heavy on bonuses" deal we're not going to be paying him 50K at the same time are we? I don't think he was a particularly good signing but you were yourself look silly claiming he's going to have cost us nearly 10 million. Even with the numbers you've made up there we're still giving him a signing on fee bigger than his transfer fee to reach those heights.

I know what your saying and as ive said if something more sinister is suggested by those at the game it will be differet. Just for balance I googled your search and I googled child pulling face and the search from child pulling face had more matches

Oooo give over, racism? The worlds gone mad, he was just being immature.
Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
was just an approx, pick tiny holes in the figures but the point remains. it's reported online he's paid £37,500 a week, over 2 years that is £3.9M in wages. Add the £1-2M fee = £4.9m - £5.9m.
The squad is paid enormous bonuses for staying in the league, of which he will be due 1 years payment (potentially another next year if we stay up again).
Agent fees/Player signing on fees haven't been added either.
We wont be able to shift him, he has no resale value either.
Give me a figure Stephens will cost this club......
it's at least £6M over 2 years.

Looking on Twitter some suggestions are Alioski was complaining about something McNeil said to him and this is what might be in the refs report

Think its easier to wait until the incident is made public

The sun have picked up on Alioski.
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.the- ... ielsa/amp/
Also Leeds fans are saying in twitter that McNeil was the one who said something racist to Alioski and that McNeil spat at Alioski. I don’t know how people can jump to such conclusions with no evidence. The only evidence we 100% have is that Alioski pulled what appeared to be a Monkey face at someone. I am sure with the leeds love in McNeil will get a telling off or a ban for getting in a mightly leeds players way.

Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
It was an estimate with the high end being £10m. Those figures I posted of the wage over 2 years represent 30k a week as the low and the high of 50k p/w, take the middle figure of £3.6m for wages, £1.4m fee = £5m.milkcrate_mosh wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 3:12 pmIf we've structured a "heavy on bonuses" deal we're not going to be paying him 50K at the same time are we? 1 years bonus in the bag, another potentially next year. + any signing on fee/agent fee.
It's not quite £10M but it's an expensive mistake we could do without

There’s a video doing the rounds of Dwight spitting on Alioski when he bobs down towards him when he’s on the ground. Not seen it from a more conclusive angle.

Thats what I've seen but that makes me more concerned that Alioski's reaction was something more than just pulling a childish face
Re: Burnley v Leeds - Match Day Thread
From what I saw Aliiski feigned injury which angered McNeil. He leant over Alioski and at least said something to him. Alioski spit at somebody when he got up the pulled his tongue out and made the face at McNeil. He then made the face again at the Burnley bench. Woan responded verbally to him. That is what was shown on NBCSN

Questionable decision to make the face he will probably get done for racism in 2021 where everyone loves to make everything about race. Cancel culture is real
