The positives

Post by Boss Hogg » Sun May 23, 2021 6:00 pm

The season is over
We know that 2nd and 3rd choice keepers are hopeless and have time to replace them.
Pace will have realised that the squad needs more strengthening than Garlick indicated.
Don’t think Dyche will be in too much demand ( should be a positive but it’s not half gone stale )
Dunne can be sent out to League One.

We’ve found out we have got fantastic players waiting in the wings to take us to the next level next season in Benson, Joel and Norris

We stayed up.

Hopefully we can shift out some of the deadwood this summer, Brady, Dunne & Norris to name but 3, however there might be others if we can find any takers for them.

And the fans should be back next season in numbers.

Fans being back is a disadvantage for us really if you think about it.

It’s worrying after a performance like that. The good thing is indeed that the season is over, the players can get a proper rest and get some downtime.

What’s concerning is just how big a summer window this needs to be for BFC. We desperately need some quality all over the park, defence isn’t what it was, midfield is too weak and can’t create, attacking department just seems lacking ideas.
I really can’t see more than 2/3 coming in to the club, and I just feel they’ll be similar to what’s already here, good lads, hard work, grafter types. We need more than that now. We need that composure on the ball, pace, creativity.

Above all get the age of this squad down.

Apparently money is available but I suspect all we will hear is the same excuses like we have for the past 3/4 windows.

We start next season with more than 8/9 of the team that started last 3 games of the season the drop will be a real prospect.

We didn't blood any youngsters regardless if being safe, so we can presume none are anywhere near the required standard.

SHOULD mean we actually sign some first team players

The one positive from the pandemic was being able to watch all the games ....... but then one of the negatives of it was actually watching all the games. Fortunately we did get some wonderful moments to remember !! UTC !!

It is great to be able to have moaning fans, knowing that next season, our 100% committed, talented, team, will be playing in the Premier league.

Our squad and management deserve huge credit. That was very, very difficult.

Alan has seen the state the previous board have left the squad in. Hopefully he realises that if he wants to protect his “investment”, he’ll need to invest some more.

Look, I'd rather have Lando Norris in goal than Will Norris after his last two games, but how in the hell have you come to the conclusion BPF is hopeless?

BFP is contracted until 2024 with a further option !

I'm not convinced that Mr Pace knows much about the actual art of playing football other than a business

Jimmy Dunne is out of contract next month ;)

Cue the poster to come on and tell you to stop being such a drama queen and suggesting the task ahead is a simple one to that facing Crystal Palace.

That'll be the same board who have paid SD and his staff thumping great wages for what they have achieved.
I'm surprised nobody has blamed Mike Garlick for our lousy tactics yet. :D

Leicester blew their lines.

They have more personnel that I have a deep dislike for (Vardy, Evans, Maddison) than Chelsea, so I’m actually pleased that they beat them to the top 4.

I don't know our home form might improve, anyway even if is a disadvantage you'd surely still rather have fans in stadiums than not, I've seen a few games this year, and it's felt like a pre-season event at times, and often it's not even been that good.

Leicester/WHU are not in Champions League so JT may decide to stay

On the other hand, it means they may not be so eager for additional cover so won't pay top prices

We stayed in the Premier League.

Our away form was great.

Fantastic wins against Liverpool, Everton and Arsenal.

Matej Vydra

Fans are back

Free into the game against Liverpool when all other teams charged their fans.

Season ticket prices didn’t go up.

Blackburn still in the Championship.

To be honest boatshed, I think our tactics/performances (today aside) have improved as the season has gone on. I do worry that our more attacking football has left us too exposed at the back though - we really need to learn how to deal with players running at us if we’re going to push forwards more. Credit where it’s due, our inability to close down a runner isn’t Garlicks fault :D
