Re: Sheff Weds
I was talking to former pro Tommy Spurr recently, Sheffield Wednesday born and bred. He's absolutely gutted his boyhood club is in such dire straits.
The fella had to end his career early due to a very bad injury.
Ex-Rovers man too, but lots of great things to say about our club. He is working at a school in Burnley at the moment.

It will be his real name because no one chooses to be called Alan.

True, but they might use someone else's email address when they're setting out to scam somebody.duncandisorderly wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 11:50 amIt will be his real name because no one chooses to be called Alan.

I’m not sure why they think their players would be eligible for the furlough scheme, they’re not being stopped working by the pandemic are they?

I'm not sure what's going on about who owes who money and it why.
But I know for sure Wellsy and his previous user name before wellsy ( which now escapes me ) his real first name isn't Alan.

Well yes, but that happens every year. The furlough scheme isn’t there to help seasonal workers it’s there to help jobs affected by lockdown. The only argument Wednesday might have is loss of income due to grounds being closed.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 11:48 amThey won't be training for a number of weeks/month now its end of season.

I agree with what you're saying, I'm just guessing as to why they're doing it.
I think its a poor move tbh

I can see Sheff Wednesday heading down the same path as Bury did unfortunately, that would be sad as they're one of the traditional old school clubs and relatively local to Burnley, but this malaise has been going on for far too long, I just hope they eventually get themselves sorted out, but the signs aren't looking promising alas.

Re: Sheff Weds
I don't think that would be a valid argument either. You don't need to prove loss of income to put your staff on furlough, you can do it for any reason, so that wouldn't matter. What the issue would be in this case IMO is that you cannot use furlough for when the staff are on annual holiday and then start paying them again when they work. Otherwise all businesses would do it.
I am told also that staff who are on annual contracts as opposed to normal monthly wages can't get furloughed. I don't know how true that is, but I do know someone that tried it and was told they couldn't.
