Full stadium's for season opener
Can anyone realistically see this happening, and considering many of us have actually renewed, what's the plan b moving forward if it doesn't ?

Yes.
There probably isn't a Plan B.
Plan C will involve witchcraft, human sacrifices and a twix.

I don’t think it’s out of the question now that vaccines have broken the link with hospitalisation and death. Millions more will be vaccinated by then and there will be a completely different mindset to what there’s been.

Re: Full stadium's for season opener
I can’t call it.
I think 21st will be delayed or scaled back in some way, but for more than 2 months? Unlikely, I’d say.
If scaled back, I’d personally prioritise mass events in open air that last two hours before relaxing restrictions on WFH (which drive masses to crammed public transport and see people spend 8 hours in often badly ventilated offices).
All that said, seems hard to fathom that such sparsely populated stadia will be packed to the rafters very shortly

Going to Edgbaston next week for the England game. Have to sign a consent form for all the process and do a PCR within 48 hours before. If that game runs smoothly I can’t see why there couldn’t be next season.

If it doesn't happen it will mean the 21st June has been pushed back by almost 2 months, which won't happen

Re: Full stadium's for season opener
The Turf won't be full anyway what with all those who have vowed never to return due to the taking the knee and ST renewal difficulties staying away.
Can't wait !

Re: Full stadium's for season opener
Don't forget all those who won't return because of Dyches style of football, well it looks like he will still be here. I'd better bring an extra rug for the Bob Lord, as the wind will be whisleling around the half empty stadium.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 7:27 amThe Turf won't be full anyway what with all those who have vowed never to return due to the taking the knee and ST renewal difficulties staying away.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see local restrictions stay in place where the R number is above 1, infections are on the increase and there are low levels of vaccine take up.

Heaven knows... But its looking like teacher may be keeping the whole class behind because little Johnny Simpleton refused to have his jabs.

Re: Full stadium's for season opener
I think they will only let people in who have had 2 vaccine's. They may let other's in who haven't had a vaccination but they may have to move and all sit together to protect the rest of us. They could put all people without a vaccination in the cricket field stand......

Will it be a full house or a sell out?

Absolutely no chance whatsoever of a full stadium at the start of the season.
100% certain on that.

Re: Full stadium's for season opener
October/November time perhaps, but no chance for August unfortunately.
Re: Full stadium's for season opener
And if we delay it again another "scary" new variant will emerge. If we aren't going to get back to normal once the vulnerable have had both their jabs what exactly are we waiting for?

Re: Full stadium's for season opener
The whole thing is a pile of nonsense, aimed to control people. Things will never go back to normal, scanning government apps. It's about time they gave people to option to go, open the stadium for all and if you're terrified of Covid, stay at home.

Re: Full stadium's for season opener
It's certainly beginning to look that way. I think the idea of controlling many aspects of people's lives has gone to some of our "leaders'" heads.
Re: Full stadium's for season opener
If it doesn't happen this August then it never will. Once you go down this road there'll always be a reason not to release the shackles.

Re: Full stadium's for season opener
I do hope that we are back to full stadiums by the time first home match comes round, if nothing else to stop the club making a right tit of the ticketing/season tickets, and pi**ing fans off.
I’m ok as I’m phase one but I can just see the meltdown if we are anything but full capacity on here.

It’s looking increasingly like the Govt. also don’t believe in the vaccine. I’ve had both mine but still can’t go on a bloody holiday.I’m self employed, and it would mean a month with no money for 2 weeks away. The Portuguese have tested 100,000 people before they flew home, and had SIX positive cases, yet BO JO and his group of clowns have put it back in amber. What the hell is going on?

Re: Full stadium's for season opener
I am pretty sure we will be back to full houses by then.
Very slight chance of no away fans. But once all adults have been offered 1 x dose and all elderly / vulnerable 2 then can’t see why not.
If we aren’t permitted to take any reasonable risk the fallout will be huge.
Many people (not in government) would be happy to be locked up until it disappears.
We realistically shouldn’t be that far behind Israel.
If they continue the current rate of vaccination (600k a day) that’s around 40m more jabs by the season opener.
At some point soon we have to reopen fully.
Today some Berk from the snp complained that we didn’t act quick enough on India. Acted too quick on Portugal. And haven’t acted quick enough but are acting too quick on 21 June.
If it wasn’t for media and social media we would probably be out of lockdown already.

In the immediate short term perhaps. But assuming the delays are only for a couple of weeks to 4 max, we should absolutely be back in business in August.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 1:08 pmNot so good news just announced for Gr. Manchester and Lancashire.

Vaccine passports to be used at England games for the euros.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 2:43 pmIn the immediate short term perhaps. But assuming the delays are only for a couple of weeks to 4 max, we should absolutely be back in business in August.
This is a good move, those that wish to return to enjoying their life and doing things can do so with the passport and those who don't want the jab aren't in danger of catching it at places like sporting events.
