He probably has several million to gain by way of pay increase, with the prospect of no guaranteed job at the end of this season if he doesn't? He has nothing to gain from signing that contract. He is in the driving seat, he can leave until next summer to agree a package (where he could get more money). He is also a much more desirable manager if his contract is ran right down. He might have his eye on the Leicester job if Rodgers ends up going to a top club.
Nothing to back this up but I think Dyche will wait till the season starts before making decision.

It's pretty clear that other Prem clubs don't fancy Dyche.
Which should suit us. We can keep stinking the Prem out as long as he stays...should p1ss them all off no end.

Yeah the problem is when does that planning take place given how fast managers can leave and also if we dropped soon as he left would that not be great for his image? I don’t for a second think he’d take enjoyment from our demise but does aiding us for when he leaves not make his job harder elsewhere? If he went to Palace his aim would be to keep them up whether that was at our expense or not.DCWat wrote: ↑Sun Jun 13, 2021 9:38 pmIt’s why I’d want Dyche heavily involved with succession planning, to try to mitigate the impact.
Hopefully the new board is developing a plan for this eventuality. Touch wood, it’ll be a while until it’s needed, but it will be and we have to be as prepared as is possible.

BURNLEY IN ADVANCED YOUNG TALKS
Burnley are in advanced negotiations with Ashley Young’s representatives over a free transfer for the Inter Milan left back.
The deal under discussion is for one year, with the option of a further 12 months.
Young has huge respect for Burnley manager Sean Dyche, who was his captain at Watford when he started his professional career.
It is not a done deal, but all parties increasingly hopeful.
So say SSN

Agree with the sentiment that he will not sign a new deal until he see's actual cash being spent on his choices by the owners
Also doubt he would want Tarks to go unless a replacement is already on the books so Pace will have to find the cash from somewhere

He doesn’t but he much is a more desirable option with next to no compensation to pay. Especially if he is on a lower wage.jedi_master wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 9:01 amHe probably has several million to gain by way of pay increase, with the prospect of no guaranteed job at the end of this season if he doesn't? I just can’t see him signing until he knows all the other options have gone and he knows he’s going to be backed.

The sun are reporting Bruce is to be given a 50m war chest this summer.
If they can keep Maximam/Wilson and build on that, they will have a decent team.
Ashley has certainly backed Bruce, makes it strange he didn’t throw more money at Benitez at the time.

Willock was great towards the end of the season.

50 million isn't a war chest by todays standards. As said above, if they make a 40m signing, then that's most of it gone already.

I would say that classes as a war chest. Well in Burnley terms it certainly does.

particularly if it includes wages - of course if a club is to commit £50m in fees it is unlikely that it is more than £20m in upfront cash - only the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea can stump up the cash for big fees if necessary. it is not something they would normally choose to do, but are prepared to do if the situation demands.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 11:44 am50 million isn't a war chest by todays standards. It is not unusual if staged payments are to be made for the selling club to factor off the outstanding amount so they receive a full transfer fee minus the cost of selling the debt at a discount (usually that cost is built into the transfer fee. It is a more rare practice for a club to borrow the money to pay the whole fee up front.

Agree. He was instrumental although often from the bench. £30m for say potentially 10 years service isn’t too bad. I wish we were able to compete for those players.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 11:57 amTo be fair he’s a young lad that has scored 8 goals in 14 games for Newcastle from midfield.
Never going to be available for cheap.
I originally thought Arsenal would want to try and keep him but they have a BoE loan to pay off so he’s probably one that they’ll be willing to sacrifice if they get an offer on that scale though.

Ashley Young deal moving closer according to Sky Sports. If we can back that up with a younger winger then it will be a good signing to beef out the squad a bit too as it is going to take more than one window to repair this squad.

Absolutely 50 million isn't to be sniffed at, just the ever inflating prices mean that it can very easilly be spent on 1 average player. A war chest i would class as a massive budget.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 11:50 am50m can get you two first teamers.

that will come down to how serious they are about Haaland this window - the pure profit in selling off some of the young kids (and the combination of wage savings will help them past FFP). You would think that they would want more than £15m though

Certainly an interesting player, he had a decent season at Bodo/Glimt the other year.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 1:41 pmThat would be interesting alongside Young, signing a player from each of the Milan clubs.
I highlighted signing Philip Zinckernagel from them about a year ago. He had a really impressive season that year scoring 19 goals and getting 18 assists. He ended up at Watford where he had an ok second half of the season.
There is a massive gap between that league and ours but would be worth the risk at a reasonable fee.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I’d seen he was at Bodo/Glimt and was scratching my head at our link with them. It’s come to me now, it’s where Dane Richards went from us.
Lets hope the new owners change the way we recruit
Lets hope they realise getting players in early before pre season starts absolutely vital particularly the way we train and footballing style. We will not sign top players that are involved in the euros so hopefully lets make our mark (and let them make their mark) and get at least some business done handy. We started last season with 3 points from 7 games so 3 from 21 and it got us backtracking for a lot of the season, we have to grow but learn from our errors and be ready to at least start on the front foot. It will be interesting if the new owners take a different stance or be vocal and support the old regime in how hard it is to recruit the right players at the right price and were scrambling around in the last weeks of window getting nowhere.

Young's obviously still very fit and playing at a high level. That's not in question. So why are some posters so worried about his age? Put it this way, if we can get a player of his quality and with his experience on a free, how can we be upset about that? Even with his wages at perhaps 1-2 million per season, it's nothing compared to what we get for staying up. Plus, it might just free up some of the budget for strengthening elsewhere.

Of course they retire in their 30s. That can mean anything from 30 to 39 However, Young is clearly not like most footballers. That's evident from him playing regularly for Inter Milan and winning Serie A at age 35.
We know that Ashley Young is fit. Very fit for his age. In fact, he's got very little injury history: https://www.transfermarkt.com/ashley-yo ... eler/14086
We're not talking about some player who is winding down his career. He's still performing at a high level.
